Yun Cam
~~~~~~~~~~
A few years ago I made a change in my life, I became a wrestler and I quit the idol industry for good. But a part of me was drawn back when I was offered my own weekly TV Show. That show has nothing to do with my idol life and just focuses on my regular life and my transition into the wrestling business... Fans who tune in every single week are granted an insight into my life. One of the highlights of the show is my confessional. The Yun Cam. I am contractually obligated to sit in front of this camera right here and share my feelings. I am required to record at least twenty minutes of footage a week. That is twenty minutes where I just sit in front of this camera, and ramble. About my opponent, about my inner most thoughts, about bitching recipes to kimchi... But this week I need to address something that I am sure is going to not be popular.
This last week has been one of the worst in my life, and frankly, one that should never have happened... If I was asked "Yun what the worst part about being famous (In Korea)?" I would not hesitate to give my answer. One that I am sure is going to be unpopular, one I am sure is going to fuel the paparazzi machines and the Kpop Internet Douchebags. But my answer would be: The Fans.
if I had to go deeper and give TWO answers? The second would be the media. But that is the same no mater where you live. The media is always going to make up shit about you, but it goes away in a week or two. But when FANS get ahold of those stories, they get twisted to ANOTHER level. So paparazzi is in second, but they are far behind fans.
Frankly, that is a concept I am sure will be foreign to any group of celebrities in the world. Especially to wrestlers. We have some of the greatest fans in the world. But Korean fans? They could make every single day of your life miserable and not bat an eyelash.
Surely, you jest Yun?
I wish I did. I really wish I did.
This was not something I had to deal with often, being a girl in a girl group has its advantages in that regard. Okay, sure we have our pervert fans. The guys who try to kidnap you by carrying you off stage and into the trunk of their car. The guys who try to cop a feel as you walk by. And the group of guys that hang around our dorms. But that is tame to what the guys in the boy groups have to go through.
Not every single fan is going to be a bad seed, mind you, but for every five good fans that are out there, there is one fan so foul, so depraved, that their negative influence outweigh the positive influence of the other five.
The Sasaeng Fan.
These fans are so bad, we have a NAME for them.
These are the fans that stalk their favorite members, send them love letters written in blood, for go any aspect of a social life to spend every single free hour outside what ever building their oppa, (term of affection for a male, usually an older male. Figure I would explain that for my Western fans.) and using every single bit of money they have saved to pursuit their oppa even more... They are obsessed, and they are dangerous and very very crazy.
They will do anything to be with their oppa.
ANYTHING.
So why am I using my time to rant about how crazy these saseng fans can be? Because frankly I would have ranted about it sooner, but as I said - this is not something girl groups deal with often. The sasaengs really only target the males... Which maybe tells me there is something fucked in the head of the average teenage Korean girl's head. So allow me to tell you how I suddenly became the target of more sasaengs than I wanted to EVER see. It all started on my last day in Seoul, I had just finished my workout...
~~~~~~~~~~
Yun had just finished her last training before she would head back to the states for her next match. She had come home to Seoul for the week after her last match, and wanted to unwind a bit. Though she did not hesitate to take sometime at the gym each day.
"Hey, you are facing Camellia in your next match, Yun." came the voice of Joe Shamrock as he walked into the room Yun was resting in. In his hands was the match card for the next event. "She is a veteran, should be a good match for you. Been around the FGA for a while now." he says to her handing the paper to Yun.
"Is she the girl with the accent?" Yun asks, really kind of unsure who Camellia was, though she would never admit that. It was a bit of embarrassment on her part that she still had not learned who everyone on the roster was. She felt it that fact came out it would look like a major insult to the wrestlers she was unfamiliar with. But the truth was the way she kept splitting her time between America and Seoul was giving her very little time to spend with the other wrestlers in FGA outside of "work."
"You are going to need to be more specific, for Christ sakes half the roster could describe you that way. But for the sake of arguments, let us say yes. She is the one with the accent" Shamrock laughs a bit.
"I guess its kind of a southern accent? God I don't know, it doesn't mater you know who I mean. She has solid in ring work, I've been watching her for a while. She seems very much like me at the moment, unable to string some wins together. So this should be a good match for both of us." Yun says, dazing off into the distance. Deep down she was still hung up on her match with Cordy. She hung everything she had in the ring, and so did Cordy, but at the end of the day it wasn't good enough. She had to train more, get better. She knew they would meet again someday in the ring, and on that day she planned to win.
"I think I turned a corner last week, I lost yeah... But I gave everything I had into that match and I think had I not been facing Cordy, I would have walked away with a win. I learned a lot about myself in that match, what I can do and what I can't do... I need to get back out there and just focus on getting better. Camellia seems like the perfect opponent to do that with. I've known success in this industry before, and I plan to get back there. So I need to take it one week at a time." Yun finishes packing her gym bag and heads to the door.
"Hey be a doll and grab my bag for me?" she says to Joe, then heads outside.
Yun exits the building and is taken back by what she sees. Outside the gym she was in is a throng of teenage looking girls, too many for Yun to count. She just stands there for a second, trying to figure out what is going on. Before she can figure out this answer though she is stuck in the chest by a cup of soda, which explodes open on impact splattering soda and ice all over her. Yun lets out a shriek and ducks back into the gym just as Shamrock was coming along.
"What the FUCK is going on out there?" Yun screams at him.
"Oh... Shit. I should have warned you about that. I am so sorry..." he says, bowing to her a bit.
"No shit you should have!" Yun responds. "But you didn't answer me, what are they doing out here and why did I just get pelted by Mountain Dew?" she pulls a towel out of her gym bag and begins trying to wipe the soda off of her. "This is going to stain, I am going to beat the shit out of every one of those bitches..." Yun grumbles to her self.
"I don't think inviting them to a Super Kick Party is going to solve anything..." he says to her with a bit of a laugh, "And those girls are looking for Seungri from BIGBANG. I think they are his fan club..." He says, peeking out the door, trying to count how many there are in his head.
"Is he here?" she asks, "Why would they throw shit at me tough?"
"No, he isn't here." Shamrock responds to her.
"So... why are THEY here?" Yun is getting a bit angry now.
"Because you're dating him, they think because you are here, that he must be here." Shamrock says with a huge grin on his face. Like he had been waiting for this moment for days.
"...I'm uh... not dating him. You know that, I'm dating Sebastian Grey, ya know dude made of glass? Sneezes and breaks a bone? Ring a bell?" Yun says, peeking out the door of the gym. The second she does another drink cup comes flying at the door.
"Oh yes, I assure you. You are." Shamrock now has the biggest shit eating grin on his face, he has indeed been waiting for this moment for three days. Trying to figure out the best way to break this news to Yun. He ignores her for a second and pulls out his cell phone, after a few moments of browsing it, he flips the phone over to Yun.
"...Oh dear god. Doesn't ANYONE know about Sebastian in Korea? I am CLEARLY dating him, we have been photographed together, MANY FUCKING TIMES. I've even been photographed KISSING him. I even think Dispatch did an article about it!" she screams, staring down at the phone.
"Well, now Dispatch says you are dating Seungri. Who are they to lie to their public just to sell copies of their rag. Look at those pictures of you two, you are clearly dating. Look at how is ever so lovingly gazing at your legs in that last picture." Shamrock laughs as he says this.
"WE ARE JUST FRIENDS. Oh my god, just because he is a pervert and was looking at my legs.. which I am going to kick him in the nuts for mind you, doesn't mean jack shit. What is this "Fans report seeing the couple holding hands going out for a stroll through Gangnam." He wanted help buying some new outfits, and I was NOT holding his hand..." Yun screams at the phone, her grip tightening on it. Shamrock quickly slips in and grabs his phone from her before she broke it.
"I dunno, look at you two lovebirds holding hands right there." Shamrock says, taunting her with the picture.
"No, its the fucking angle of that picture, I am NOT holding his hand. This is a disaster. Please tell me Sebastian doesn't know about this story. He doesn't know Korean, so okay maybe he doesn't. You didn't tell him did you?" Yun sounds kind of panicked now.
Shamrock slides his finger across his screen, while holding the phone out for Yun to see. There are English articles from Kpop News Sites about Yun dating Seungri, there is even one lone article about this whole thing on a wrestling dirt site.
"...fuck." she says to her self. "We need to go." Yun says and with out hesitation rushes outside. The girls quickly rush Yun, shoving her around. Shamrock comes rushing out of the gym to try to disperse the crowd but has a hard time.
The girls are all shouting things to Yun as they shove her around the scrum.
"HOW DARE YOU TAKE OPPA FROM US!"
"YOU NEED TO DIE SLUT!"
"SEUNGRI IS ONLY DATING YOU OUT OF PITTY!"
"YOU USED TO BE SO CLASSY! NOW YOU ARE JUST A WHORE!"
"PINK DOLLS ARE SO MUCH BETTER NOW THAT YOU ARE GONE!"
"WHAT DOES OPPA SEE IN YOU?"
"SLUT! SLUT! SLUT!"
Joe suddenly grabs Yun and pulls her back into the gym. Pushing aside as many of the girls as he can with his other arm.
"Fuck, you okay?" Shamrock asks, looking her over.
"Yeah I'm fine, holy shit those girls are crazy. I need to tell them I am not dating Seungri." she says with a sigh.
"Do you really think they would listen right now?" Shamrock responds to her, "Come on, there is a back door. We'll take a cab home, I'll com back for The Blueberry later." he says, dusting Yun off as they head to the backdoor of the building.

Yun Cam Returns
~~~~~~~~~~
Now I am sure you are saying, "But Yun, that was not so bad. If anything you should rate the media higher on your list than fans." and I would say to that "Sure. If that was the full story."
That was only the start of my week from hell. That was four days ago and what has transpired in that time since than has been downright horrific. I don't have time to tell more of the story now, and maybe I will next week if I feel up to it... I just need to say things I have seen this week have... I didn't know human beings could be so depraved. Let me show you this...
(Yun holds up a letter written in Korean hangul.)
As you can see, this is written in blood. Remember how I said this was a trait these girls had. They liked to write love letters in blood. But they also liked to write HATE mail in blood. I wonder if they just write all their letters in blood... I digress. At first I was skeptical of this being blood, until I found this in the envelope.
(Yun holds a picture of a girl in front of the camera. She is a young girl, about 17 years old or so, and wearing a BIGBANG T-Shirt. In the picture she is holding up a photo of Yun. An X has been carved through Yun's face in the picture. You can see the wrist and forearm of the hand holding up the picture of Yun has been slashed a few times and is bleeding.)
Needless to say, judging by the picture this girl is not a fan of mine. For those of you can't read Hangul this letter here...
(Yun holds the letter back up in front of the camera.)
Says that she hates me, that I have taken the only thing pure in her life from her, and that I must die for my sins... Charming letter to get on its own, even more so when it is written in blood. Now I said fans, I hate fans, and naturally this girl is not one of mine. But she IS a fan of a Kpop Group. This is the kind of behavior we have allowed for so long. We get told by our agencies to ignore them. But how the fuck am I supposed to ignore this?
I am NOT dating Seungri.
But even the NOTION that I am, has sent fans of HIS into such a frenzy that this is the result. Name me one other group of fans out there on this planet that act like this? The Japanese Pop Fans are TAME by comparison to this.
We as wrestlers need to be thankful our fans are the best fans out there.
Because if you had to worry about being attacked by fans of rival wrestlers in the parking lot, I think this job would be a lot more hectic. Now, imagine that really was the reality we had to deal with in Korea and...
Maybe now you guys can understand a bit better why I got out when I did.
And why when I say I hate Kpop fans, that I really hate Kpop fans...
As I said, if I feel up to it I will tell you the rest of what happened this week on next weeks show. In all likely hood I will finish up this story because frankly, I think everyone needs to know just what these little demon spawns put me through in the last four days...
I don't envy Camilla, after the week I have had I am going to be looking to let out some aggression in a big way. I think every single Super Kick I wanted to execute on those girls outside the gym, will find their mark on Camilla's face this week. It is not personal, wrong place, wrong time.
See you in the ring.
