TAG TEAM MATCH
Renegades of Funk vs. Marlon Cure & Jenny Cien
*Static Cut Intro*
"Turn My Music HIGH
HIGH
HIGH
HIGH-ER"
The arena darkens, the high energy kicks in as Jay Z’s “U Don't Know” plays, A single spotlight suddenly illuminates the entrance way to show the silhouette of a man on the stage.
The lighting cuts back in and turns a golden hue as Marlon Cure stands with both arms outstretched on either side of him, eyes closed and his head tilted back, soaking in the atmosphere and energy from the crowd. The camera pans around Cure as the fan reaction grows louder and louder.
J.A. Aldridge: The following contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, making their way to the ring at a total combined weight of 311 pounds! They are the team of Marlon Cure & Jenny Cien!
The High Flyer walks down to the ring with purpose, oozing confidence as he hops up the steel steps and climbs up to the top rope, reaching a hand for the sky in a taunting manner before he finally drops down into the ring. Cure shrugs the sleeveless long coat off of his shoulders and places the black gold crown around a nearby ring post as he leans back in the corner, waiting for the match to begin.
Kris Cruise: There’s no love lost between Marlon Cure and Cassius Reed. These two will once again do battle here tonight. This time in tag team action with Jenny Cien and TJ Techniques as their respective partners.
Stephy Auger: Cure and Cien are in sync. You don’t have to worry about th two of them not being on the same page. King Cure got the job done on the last Vertigo against The Funky Dragon. He might just do it again. If this were one on one, I would say that it’s a coin toss. But since King Cassius id teaming with Hip Hop Harry, I’d have to give the edge to Marlon.
Kris Cruise: Marlon may have lost out on his chance to challenge for the United States Championship at Only the Strong Survive. But he’ll still be in competition that night. I’ve just gotten word that Cure will be taking part in this year’s Gold Rush Rumble. Cure won the Gold Rush Rumble three years ago and he would love nothing more than to become a two-time winner.
♫ Step into a world (Klaka klaka, klaka klaka!)
Where there's no one left (Buku, buku! Alla de massive!)
But the very best (Klaka, bo bo, BDP crew, bo bo bo bo!)
No MC can test [*cut and scratch of KRS saying "but one"*] ♫
The beat kicks in as "Step Into a World (Rapture’s Delight)" starts to knock through the speakers. Out through the curtain steps TJ Techniques, clad in his ring attire and hooded vest. TJ peeks out underneath the hood as he looks out to the right. He does the same to his left before flinging the hood back, smacking his chest twice and pointing down in front of him with his forefingers. TJ nods his head as he makes his way down the ramp with purpose.
J.A. Aldridge: Their opponents! Introducing first, hailing from Staten Island, New York! Weighing in at 188 pounds… TJ TECHNIQUES!
TJ leaps to the apron before stepping into the squared circle. He makes a beeline towards the far corner and hops up to the middle ropes. TJ scans the crowd before slapping his chest twice and pointing down in front of him with his fingers. He hops down from the corner, walks across the ring and hops to the middle ropes and scans the corner. TJ slaps his chest twice before pointing down in front of him with his forefingers. He then hops down and takes off the hooded vest before tossing it to the outside. TJ tugs away at the top rope as he readies himself the start of the match.
Stephy Auger: Even after winning the Tag Titles, TJ thinks he’s too good to come out to the ring with Cassius Reed. He insists they have separate entrances and that he goes first. The nerve of this guy!
Kris Cruise: What on Earth are you going on about? Stop trying to cause a rift between TJ and Cassius. The two of them are on the same page and have been on the same page for weeks. They’ve put in the effort to get past their issues to make this team work. They’re the new World Tag Team Champions, so suffice to say, their efforts have paid off!
Stephy Auger: They are NOT on the same page! TJ had the perfectly opportunity to back up his partner during the interview with that hack Amanda Johnson. But what did TJ do? He went, “gee golly willikers, Amanda, gotta run!” He didn’t stick up for his partner at all. He didn’t back up Cassius’ story. That lets me know that deep down, TJ really isn’t kay with doing whatever has to be done to become and remain champion
Kris Cruise: Well if I were him, I wouldn’t be thrilled about my partner using a loaded elbow pad to win, either.
Kris Cruise: “Alleged” loaded elbow.
Stephy Auger: There’s nothing “alleged” about it. He did it right in front of us, Stephy! We all saw it!
It’s not my fault your girlfriend likes me,
I do her hard like fucking warp speed,
Your Dad’s mad, it’s not my fucking fault,
That your Mom wants to fucking fuck me!
As the intro to “You Suck” by Pour Habit blasts throughout the arena, out from the back bursts Cassius Reed! Slowly rotating in his gold lined black ring robe Cassius soaks in the atmosphere for just a moment. Spinning to face the ring, he shadow boxes at the top of the ramp a short time more, before posing, spreading his arms wide, and sprinting down to the ring at full pace!
J.A. Aldridge: His partner, hailing from Funkytown, USA, and tipping the scales tonight at 205lbs… CASSIUS! REED!
Sliding in under the bottom rope, he quickly rolls onto his back before kipping up! Giving a quick smirk and raised eyebrow to the referee, he turns and leaps to the top of the nearest turnbuckle, before whipping off his ring robe with a flourish. He poses just a moment at the top of the turnbuckle, smug grin on his face, robe hanging from his hand, before dropping back to the mat, consigning his entrance gear to the outside whilst he finishes warming up for the match with more shadow boxing.
The match starts off with Marlon Cure and TJ Techniques in the ring. TJ is ready to lock up. But Cure points behind him and over towards Cassius Reed.
Kris Cruise: Cure wants another piece of Cassius!
TJ looks to the crowd and points over in Reed’s direction. He then looks over to his partner. The Funky Dragon is seen putting his hand out. Techniques then heads over and makes the tag. The crowd starts to buzz with anticipation as Cure and Reed immediately get into each other’s faces. The two continue to jaw jack back and forth until Cure piefaces Cure. The crowd boos Cure until Reed comes back and swats him across the face with a Pimp Slap!
Kris Cruise: Oh my!
Stephy Auger: What!?
Cure slowly turns back to reed and gets whacked with another Pimp Slap!
Kris Cruise: Reed did it again!
Stephy Auger: The disrespect!
The cheers continue as Reed kicks him in the midsection before sending him for the ride. Cure returns and sees Reed setting up for a back body drop. So he cartwheels to the side, knocks Reed off his feet with a spinning legsweep and follows up with a standing corkscrew shooting star press.
Instead of going for the cover, Cure pops back to his feet and adds insult to injury by standing over Reed before posing.
Kris Cruise: Cure needs to stop posing and go for a cover!
Stephy Auger: Relax, he knows what he’s doing in there.
Techniques has had enough of this. He steps in through the ropes, runs up from behind and shoves Cure in the back, sending him tumbling down to the mat. King Cure rolls back to his feet before pointing in TJ’s direction. He mouths to Techniques not to do that again.
Cure turns his attention back to Reed. He reaches down to pick Reed up when Reed pulls him into a small package.

Cure kicks out.
Both grapplers scramble back to their feet. Reed slaps on a side headlock before Cure hits him with three forearm shots to the ribs. He then shoves Reed off into the ropes. When Reed comes back, Cure knocks him down with a standing shoulder block. Cure taunts Reed again by brushing off his shoulder before taking off into the ropes. Cure returns and sees Reed turning over into the prone position. So he skips over him before continue to run the ropes. Reed then pops back to his feet and leapfrogs over Cure. Instead of continuing to run the ropes, Cure slams on the brakes directly behind Reed. When Reed lands on his feet after the leapfrog and turns around, Cure catches him with a Pelé kick. Reed remains dazed until a savate kick to the leg drops him down to a knee. Cure then knocks Reed all the way to the mat with a savate kick to the face. He makes the cover.

Reed kicks out.
Cure takes Reed and whips him into the ropes. King Cure goes to catch him off the rebound with a hip toss. Reed then steps through it and tries for a hip toss of his own. Cure blocks it. Reed tries to muscle him up for another hip toss. Again, Cure blocks it. Cure then doubles Reed over with a punch of the midsection. After draping his leg across the back of Reed’s neck, Cure executes a back flip. Cure lands on his feet before getting caught with another Pimp Slap.
Kris Cruise: Reed just slapped him across the face again!
Stephy Auger: I like Cassius, I really do. But he’s pushing his luck!
At this point, Cure’s hand enough. He throws out a Rolling Elbow. But Reed ducks before catching him when he turns around with a discus punch! He then whips Cure into the ropes. Cure returns and nearly gets thrown down with a back body drop. But Cure’s able to rotate in the air and land on his feet before continuing to the ropes. When Cure returns, Reed brings him down with a hip toss. Cure is then thrown down with a deep arm drag. He returns to his feet before Reed returns him to the mat with another arm drag. Once Cure gets back to a vertical base, Reed delivers an arm wrench. Another arm wrench follows until Cure rolls forward, leans back, kips up and reverses into an arm wrench of his own. Reed then rolls forward, spins over onto his knees, flips over with a headstand, spins in place, swats Cure’s hands off him and catches him with yet another Pimp Slap! The cheers continue as Reed moonwalks away from Cure and over into the Renegades of Funk cover. Reed holds his hand out before Techniques tags himself in.
Kris Cruise: That’s four times now that Reed has pimp slapped Cure!
Stephy Auger: Reed did the wise thing by getting out of there and tagging out to TJ.
Kris Cruise: Why, so Cure can take out all his frustrations out on him instead of Reed?
Stephy Auger: Oh, is that what you think is going on here?
Techniques slingshots himself into the ring. He immediately heads over and gets right in Cure’s face. Cure looks him up and down and smirks before stepping back. King Cure motions for Techniques to show him what he’s got. TJ obliges. A lock up follows. After jockeying for position, Cure gains the upper hand with a side headlock. The ref asks TJ if he wants to give up. He refuses. He then goes to push Cure off into the ropes. But Cure’s got the hold locked on tight. He then hits Cure in the ribs before trying to push him off. Again, Cure stays on him. TJ then gabs Cure, moves him into the near ropes and tries to get a running start before pushing him off into the far ropes. NO! Cure drops down to a knee while keeping the side headlock applied. TJ’s asked again if he wants to quit. He refuses. After battling back to a vertical base, he takes Cure and goes to deliver a belly to back suplex. Cure rolls over his shoulder, lands on his feet and takes control of his back before bringing him down with a ripcord slingblade! The boos continue as he makes the cover.

Techniques kicks out.
Kris Cruise: Nice move there by Marlon Cure.
Cure takes Techniques and whips him into the ropes. He goes to catch Techniques off the rebound with a back body drop. But Techniques hurdles over him before continuing to run the ropes. Techniques returns and comes to a stop when he sees Cure run past him towards the same set of ropes. He then turns around and goes for a back body drop. But Cure’s able to hit a running backflip before continuing to run the ropes. Cure then comes back before getting thrown down with a japanese arm drag. Techniques runs over and brings Cure back down with a wheelbarrow arm drag. The cheers continue as Techniques hits the ropes, comes back and brings Cure down with a tilt-a-whirl arm drag. Cure gets back to his feet, turn around and gets a caught with a running hurricanrana, sending him through the ropes and to the floor.
Kris Cruise: Just like that, TJ Techniques has turned the tables.
Techniques turns and plays up to the crowd. He then turns and sees Cure trying to pick himself up off the floor. So TJ turns and hits the far ropes. When Techniques comes back, the crowd boos when he slams on the brakes after Jenny Cien stands in his way.
Kris Cruise: Move out the way, Jenny!
Stephy Auger: She isn't’ doing anything wrong. She didn’t even hit him in the back this time!
Kris Cruise: ...
Cien smirks as she continues to prevent Techniques from diving to the outside. But the boos turn to cheers when Reed runs behind, pushes himself off Techniques’ shoulders, flips over the top rope and brings Cure down with a somersault plancha!
Kris Cruise: What a maneuver by Cassius Reed!
Stephy Auger: What the hell!?
Cien tuns around and does a double take. She then starts to shout down at Reed on the floor. When Cien turns back towards the ring, Techniques jumps over the top rope and knocks her off the apron with a triangle shoulder block!
Kris Cruise: Down goes Cien!
Stephy Auger: Gah!
Reed takes Cure, slams him face-first onto the apron and pushes him back inside. He then climbs up to the apron and gets back into the ring with a slingshot left elbow drop. Reed slips out of the way so Techniques can deliver a topé atomico! He turns over and makes the cover.

Stephy Auger: Okay, now you can complain!
Kris Cruise: This isn’t funny, Stephy!
Cure quickly darts over towards the Renegades of Funk corner and knocks Techniques off the apron with a running elbow! He then makes his way across the ring and tags Cien in. Cien then runs along the apron before bringing Reed down with a diving hurricanrana off the apron. She then pulls Reed up, whips him down ringside and sends him crashing shoulder-first into the steel steps. Reed slumps down next to the steps before Cien runs over and smashes him with a Shining Wizard!

Stephy Auger: The ref continuously gives them to a count of five to break the choke. They break the choke in a timely fashion. What’s the issue, Cruise?
Cure steps out to the apron. After reaching back in and pulling Reed up, Cure lifts him up for a vertical suplex to the floor. Reed counters with a knee to the head on the way up before slipping down to the apron. He then nails Cure with a back elbow. Stephy Auger: He’s fading!
Reed reaches up and tries to pull Cure’s arm from around his neck, but it’s to no avail. So he starts to reach back. Cure tries to shake him off. Kris Cruise: Reed broke the hold!
Cure tries to shake out the cobwebs. Meanwhile, Reed remains steady before slowly turning over towards his right. He reaches out with his left arm for the tag. But he’s not near his corner. The Funky Dragon then gets up to a knee before getting back to a vertical base. He motions towards his corner when Cure spins him towards him. Cure throws out another Rolling Elbow. This time, Reed ducks and counters with Johnny Cage (split-legged punch to the midsection)! The crowd gasps when Techniques immediately crumbles to the mat after hitting the move. He then grabs the same leg that Cien attacked. Cure can be seen reaching out for the tag. Cien tries to shake out the cobwebs before turning over to all fours. Cure is seen waving Cien over to their corner. Cien continues to slowly crawl over to tag out. The crowd starts to buzz with anticipation as their attention turns to the entrance way.
Stephy Auger: Gareth Prichard Jr!
Kris Cruise: Why is he out here?
Cure notices the crowd’s attention is behind him. He then turns and sees Gareth strolling down the ramp. He then turns and hops down to the apron. Two seconds later, Cien dives over for the tag. But she catches nothing but air. Techniques, however, is able to tag out to Reed. The ref recognizes the tag. When he turns and sees Gareth getting closer to Cure, the ref immediately rolls to the outside and motions for Gareth to go to the back.
Kris Cruise: Smart move, ref. We don’t need Gareth ruining this match.
Techniques is seen facing away the ring as he sits on the apron and massages his knee. Back in the ring, Reed pulls out the loaded golden elbow pad and slips it on! When Cien turns around, she gets dropped with the Spanish Archer!
Kris Cruise: Cien got blasted with that loaded elbow pad!
Stephy Auger: “Allegedly” loaded elbow pad!
Reed slips off the pad and tosses it to the floor before making the cover. Back on the outside, Gareth starts to back away from both Cure and the ref. He puts his hands up defensively before pointing behind Cure and the official. The ref turns around and sees the cover being made. So he darts over to start the count. Kris Cruise: Cassius Reed comes through big for the Renegades of Funk and gets the win! But once again, it’s not without controversy!
Stephy Auger: Here you go trying to rain on Cassius’ parade! A win is a win is a win!
Cure looks back out and sees Gareth making his way back up the ramp. So King Cure rolls to the outside and marches up the ramp after him. Back in the ring, Reed gets his arm raised in victory. Aldridge then hands both sets of Tag Title belts to Techniques. Techniques slowly gets up and raises his arms in victory. He motions to hand off Reed’s half of the titles until he’s yanked down from the apron.
Kris Cruise: What the hell!?
The crowd erupts with boos when Sara Mason takes Techniques and throws him head-first into the ring post.
Kris Cruise: Sara Mason!? What is she doing out here!?
Stephy Auger: Reed motions to go after Mason until Erin Mariani slides in, rushes up from behind and knocks him down with a running elbow tackle!
Kris Cruise: Oh, what an elbow!
Stephy Auger: It looks like Silk & Cyanide have had enough!
The boos continue as Mason takes Techniques and lays him out with the Le Dernier Tournant (Paige Turner) on the floor.
Kris Cruise: TJ’s out cold!
Back in the ring, Reed slowly pushes himself up on all fours. Mariani goes over and crouches down in front of him. She then places a couple of fingers underneath Reed’s chin and tilts his head upward before pulling him into the corner and delivering the Morning Spider Despair (headscissors driver into the turnbuckles)!
Kris Cruise: Silk & Cyanide are attacking the World Tag Team Champions! Someone has to stop this!
Stephy Auger: Who would dare do such a thing! They know messing with Silk & Cyanide isn’t good for their health!
Mariani slips to the outside and searches the ringside area while Mason rolls Reed to the outside. She then reaches into the back of her jeans pocket and pulls out a pair of handcuffs. The boos grow when Reed is cuffed to the bottom turnbuckle.
Stephy Auger: From what I’ve heard, Mason usually handcuffs her men to the bedposts. So this is a new twist on things, apparently!
Kris Cruise: This isn’t a laughing matter, Stephy! What’s the matter with you!?
Mariani continues to search until she spots Reed’s loaded golden elbow pad. She marches over and snatches up the pad before marching back over towards Reed. Mason holds Reed in place while Mariani wraps the pad onto her the tip of her boot. The crowd erupts with boos when Mariani heads over and nails Reed with a kick right below the belt!
Kris Cruise: OH NO!
Silk & Cyanide continue to receive a downpour of boos after leaving the Renegades of Funk down and out at ringside.
