Medical Trainer: You should probably get some rest over the next few days. The Kinesio Tape can only do so much for you. I’ve never been completely sold on it but—
The cameras are rolling right outside the medical trainer room with the door open on one of the officials. Who they are speaking to remains a mystery, but it isn’t that hard to assume after the events of the show. From the way the trainer looks a little uneasy, the athlete in question must look and be feeling some kind of way.
Medical Trainer: —but it’s better than nothing I’m sure. It paints a target now I know. Well, hey. At least you’ll avoid most of the swelling and inflammation of the muscles. You’re lucky it’s not broken.
The medical trainer turns her back on the athlete before reaching for a clipboard. The cameras lean in to find Mighty Sparrow sitting on the table with a grimace on his face. The champion is without his title, having been snatched away by Laura Perelli. The Jersey Devil however took it upon herself to leave the Mid-Atlantic Legacy champion a souvenir for his troubles. The camera zooms in on his right arm, now wrapped up in KT tape. On his left is a small orange prescription bottle, information label turned away from the camera.
Sparrow slowly raises his right arm up, looking at the tape that begins at the elbow and goes from wrist to palm and back. The champ continues to stare in silence, flexing his fingers with a degree of discomfort. On his mind? Likely wars with Madison and Perelli ahead.
On his lips? Only one word, said in a dubious tone.
Mighty Sparrow: “Lucky”.
The champion continues to flex his fingers, opening and closing his hand into a fist over again until the discomfort subsides, or at least becomes more manageable.

The AfterBurn production cuts backstage and we find Amanda Johnson standing alone. With her eyes locked on the camera in front of her, she flashes an enthusiastic smile that welcomes the audience.
Amanda Johnson: Ladies and gentlemen, there is no other way to say this… I have a huge surprise guest; joining us tonight on AfterBurn via satellite feed, former two time Pride Champion and upcoming competitor on the Past versus Present show, CHRIS MADISON!
The feed cuts to a side by side picture - Amanda Johnson on one side and Chris Madison on the other. Madison is seen inside of what looks to be a training facility. He is sitting on the apron of a wrestling ring with the ropes at his back, one half of the UWL United States Tag Team Championships propped up directly beside him. He adjusts the earpiece that allows him to hear Amanda Johnson and instantly grins towards the camera.
Chris Madison: Thanks Amanda, it feels like it’s been awhile since we’ve had one of these conversations.
Amanda Johnson: Probably close to a year and a half.
Chris Madison: Wow, time flies…
Amanda Johnson: It sure does. I’d like to know how it feels to even be considered for a show that is highlighting some of the best competitors to ever step inside of a FGA ring.
Madison nods his head as he folds his arms across his chest.
Chris Madison: It’s an absolute honor. I’d like to think that durin’ my time in FGA I proved to be one of the best pure wrestlers out there. I may never have been the guy to carry the FGA banner on my shoulders, but everyone knew damn well, that when you stepped inside of the ring with me, you were about to go through an absolute war. So when brass reached out to Frankie and asked if I’d be interested in steppin’ into a FGA ring again for this Past versus Present show, without hesitation, the answer was yes. It gives me the chance to step into the ring with someone new, someone that FGA considers the future of their company, and show that just because I’m a name of the past, I’m not a name to ever forget!
Amanda Johnson: You definitely have that opportunity going up against the reigning Mid-Atlantic Legacy Champion, Mighty Sparrow.
Chris Madison: You know, to be a champion in FGA says a lot. It’s no easy task. The locker room is always full of hungry competitors who compete at an elite level on a nightly basis. Make no mistake about it, I’m treatin’ this match as exactly that. I’m preparin’ myself to go up against one of the best. In return, I hope he’s doin’ the same. You see, I’m not just a name that they wheeled out of the retirement home. I’m still out here grindin’ night in and night out. Whether it’s pursuin’ another reign as Mainstream Wrestlin’ United States Champion, or winnin’ the Universal Wrestlin’ League’s United States Tag Team Championships alongside Jason Cashe, I still eat, sleep, and breathe this business… If I came back full time today, I guarantee it wouldn’t take long to find me in the hunt for another FGA championship.
Amanda Johnson: I don’t think there are many who would argue that sentiment.
She quickly agrees with the former Pride Champion.
Amanda Johnson: If you could give Sparrow any advice going into your upcoming match, what would it be.
Madison pauses for a moment, looking down and away from the camera as he thinks. It’s not long before he raises his head and reconnects with the crew.
Chris Madison: Clear your head.
There’s a moment of silence and Amanda Johnson looks puzzled. Just as she opens her mouth, Madison begins to elaborate.
Chris Madison: You’ve got a lot on your plate right now. Fairly new as a champion in FGA. Laura Perelli getting the upper hand on you two weeks in a row. The excitement of new additions to the roster that have a personal connection to you. The prospect of a future team up down the road with people you clearly respect. I get it… But I’ll tell you right now, none of that matters! Standin’ across from me inside that ring should be your only concern at the moment. Slip up, and Laura Perelli will be chasin’ someone else for that Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship, your girlfriend and her uncle’s debut will be overshadowed by your demise, and that dream team of you, Cassius Reed, and TJ Technique will forever be just a dream. I’m not the kind of guy that you half ass it against. One mistake and you’ll find yourself on the shelf lookin’ back at a promisin’ career, wonderin’ just what the future could have had in store for you.
With a nod of his head, the feed cuts away from Chris Madison and focuses solely on Amanda Johnson.
Amanda Johnson: I think it’s safe to say that the Chris Madison of old hasn’t changed a bit and FGA fans are in for a treat when he and Mighty Sparrow lock up at FGA Past versus Present, live from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City!

A moment passes before the picture comes to life. The Frontier Grappling Arts United States Champion, Nina Stokes, stands backstage. Her calm and deadly demeanor can easily be deciphered as she removes the heel of her boot from the wall.
Nina Stokes: There are a lot of lazy champions in this sport. The majority of them elect to kick up their feet and watch as others kill themselves for a chance to face them. That isn’t the route I took with the United States Championship.
A couple of moments passed.
Nina Stokes: Sitting back is so dull and passive, and my hungry for violence is insatiable. And so, I rose up off my supposed throne and waltzed onto the battlefield. Instead of maxing and relaxing, I pointed to some of the strongest warriors on the roster and offered them the chance to come beat my a** if they thought they were strong enough.
She nods her head.
Nina Stokes: And to their credit, those warriors stepped up. They brought their respective A-games. They had wonderful showings—
A smirk forms on her face.
Nina Stokes: But they ultimately failed.
Silence persists for a little while.
Nina Stokes: At this point, there really aren’t many warriors left to face. The barrel has become painstakingly thin. Because of that, I shall make one final challenge—
She snaps her fingers.
Nina Stokes: But that person will have to wait until the next Vertigo.
The camera lingers for a moment before the picture fades out.
