Final Frontier: Night 1 (12.22.17)

In spite of the rain and the generally miserable weather the spirits of New York's residents doesn't seem to be dampened this close to the Holiday season, as evidenced by the people braving the conditions as they meet with friends, family and co-workers alike for as many festive gatherings as the eye can see up and down West 34th Street, with some revellers getting less into the holiday spirit and more looking for any excuse to imbibe as much non-specific spirits as their stomachs can handle, and quite often just a little bit too much that means it’s the gutter's job to handle it from there on

Yet two figures stand out among all this, those figures being the two members of Smart Style who have chosen this exact spot for a very simple reason: on the opposite side of the street to where they're standing is the Manhattan Center, and the reason for this location being chosen soon becomes apparent...

Mark Bisley: Five years ago I wrestled my very first match in this city, setting foot in the Hammerstein Ballroom to make quick work of an opponent whose name probably means nothing to you, but rest assured the name of Mickey Fandango has certainly not been forgotten by me.

Bisley takes a second to adjust his rain-soaked Minnesota Vikings beanie, at which point he and Majima begin to walk down the street in the direction of Pennsylvania Plaza, with the cameraman keeping pace

Mark Bisley: Yet even though the Hammerstein Ballroom has a well-deserved reputation within this business, with more companies than most people can name staging more shows than anybody can count within the venue, and of course the venue itself has an instantly recognisable look that so many soulless arenas so clearly lack, at the same time people look down on the venue.  Why, you ask?

The answer becomes immediately apparent once Bisley rounds the corner onto 8th Avenue and gestures toward Madison Square Garden

Mark Bisley: This is why.  Because in the minds of some people matches or titles won at the Hammerstein Ballroom do not matter, but matches and titles won at a venue that is literally a two minute walk down the block certainly do.  And that’s the problem: no matter what you do or what you’ve done, there’s always one person who cannot give credit and will take any excuse to talk down about what you have achieved.  Some people do it as a form of elitism, because if you didn’t win X in Y it means Z.  Others do it because they’re so deeply insecure that their entire frame of reference is one wrestling company in a sea of wrestling companies.  And then there’s those bitter individuals that refuse to give credit where it’s due because they know it’s a matter of time before yet another person eclipses their meagre contribution to this footnote of wrestling history.

Momentarily distracted by a small group of revellers loudly making their way down the road with the volume and singing ability associated with people who have been drinking all day, Bisley shakes his head at their stupidity before he continues…

Mark Bisley: So which one of these is the best description for Logan Alexander?

As Bisley shrugs his shoulders at making a point which, frankly, should be obvious to everyone already, Majima steps in

Shintaro Majima: Can anyone say that they have received praise from this man?  A single complimentary word?  Or has he reserved that bitterness that resides within himself solely for us?

Bisley remembers something

Mark Bisley: That reminds me, a little bird tells me he couldn’t help but continue running his mouth about as at the last show, rather than focus his attention on the team he and his long-suffering partner happened to be facing that evening.  

Shintaro Majima: That does not surprise me.

Bisley takes a second to nod in agreement with his partner, also trying to stifle a smirk of amusement and/or agreement, and having composed himself he returns his attention to the camera

Mark Bisley: I’m sure at this moment Peaches is staring at her screen, screaming that Final Frontier doesn’t emanate from this arena, and to that I have to say one thing: when did I say such a thing?  But you’ve probably already posted half a dozen wastes of time to your Twitter feed saying such a thing, because as with everything else you never think before you act.  After all, you and your partner somehow got it into your mind that, because that ungrateful ape punched you, that gave the pair of you a “reason” to attack us.

Bisley merely shakes his head

Mark Bisley: Such logic is almost as foolish as you referring to the tag team championship as “your” titles in spite of the fact that, not only did you lose them several weeks ago, but you somehow haven’t considered the fact that there’s a very good reason why you won’t be getting hold of those titles at Final Frontier…

Rather than waste breath by saying a point which is so obvious that anybody would have figured out exactly who he’s referring to, Bisley merely gestures between himself and Majima for a moment in order to make it clear to those who somehow missed the point before he continues

Mark Bisley: There are times I wonder if there’s a clause in all Flashpoint contracts that say you are required to be completely unaware of reality in order to get ahead, although I dread to think what will happen when somebody is so detached from reality that they demand Buddy Holly sing a live rendition of their entrance theme as they ride to the ring on the back of a stegosaurus.

A beat

Mark Bisley: I give it three months before somebody makes such a ludicrous request.

Majima nods in agreement, although at the same time giving Bisley a puzzled look due to his odd choice of phrasing

Shintaro Majima: Our opponents have not considered that we are approaching this match not so we can say that we beat one team or another, as we have no interest in the petty squabbles they wish to revel in.  We have said from the outset that we intend to dominate this company, and to do so involves winning every title available to us.  The tag team championship is available to us, and we intend to win it.

The two pause and turn towards one another, nodding in agreement

Mark Bisley: And you know what the best part of it will be?  For the first time in their careers our opponents who will stop at nothing to blame anyone but themselves for the failings will be right: it wasn’t your fault the four of you walked out of Final Frontier with nothing to show for it – we were the ones responsible, because while you were so busy looking for a way to avoid responsibilities, we just looked for a way to beat every single one of you.

Bisley looks over his shoulder to take one final glance at Madison Square Garden before he finishes up

Mark Bisley: We’ll be seeing you in Albany.

Bisley gives an almost courteous nod to camera before he and Majima walk away, leaving the camera to linger on the rain-swept streets of New York City

Savannah Taylor vs. Evan Envi

There was silence; the lights began to fade away slowly. A soft instrumental echoes out across the audience. It starts slowly, a beautiful sound that contrasts the heaviness of the world. Like feathers, it glides among the waiting audience. The lighting fixtures produce a gentle spotlight upon the stage, offset by the occasional flash here and there. As the song continues, a woman’s words begin to come through. Her voice is tender, not raising upon a whisper.

Deceived by my eyes and all I was told I should see
Opinions not mine, the person they taught me to be
One night in the dark, a vision of someone I knew
And in the darkness I saw, a voice say, I'm you.

On the stage, a feminine figure appears. Her head lowered to everything. People cannot make out who it is. As she stands there, the flashes briefly illuminate her figure. It only gives small clues on who stands at the gate. She stands in the spotlight, her shadow cast large and proudly among the stage.

Inside me a light was turned on…

The instrumental picks up again. An electric guitar now joins the progressively exciting instrumentals of before. The singer’s voice suddenly intensifies.

Then I was alive!

In the light, it is revealed that it was Savannah Taylor. She stands at the gate, a robe of obsidian and ivory hues. The hood of it shadows her eyes, but the intensity of the final EXODUS World Champion remains clear as day. She starts off down the ramp, with a serious aura radiating from her body.

Melanie Sierra: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a thirty minute time limit and it is a Semifinal Match in the Frontier Lions Cup! Introducing first, from Las Vegas… SAAAVANNAAAAH TAAAAAYYYYLOOORRRR!!!

Savannah makes her way up the ring steps. She looks out towards the audience for a moment before entering the ring. From there, she heads for a turnbuckle. She stands there, taking in everything. She then lifts her up on top of it. She peers out in nothing, then takes off the hood with a flashy flourish. Her blonde locks fly up in the air. They descend, shaping her face as they famously do.

In the darkness, light will take you to the other side
You'll find me waiting there you'll see, if you just close your eyes

While she stands in her corner, she closes her eyes and takes a heavy breath. When her bright eyes open, Taylor is completely composed. There is nothing more than the heat of battle awaiting her. She takes off her robe, giving it to a stagehand. She stretches her wrists before devoting her mind to the war upon the horizon.

Geoff Penzer: Savannah Taylor was able to best Brian Stryker in the Quarterfinals earlier this evening. She’s now two wins away from the Frontier Lions Cup and a guaranteed shot at the FGA Undisputed Championship. The former Pride Champion knows she’s being overlooked. She knows she’s being underestimated by the masses. Taylor is using that disrespect to fuel her throughout this tournament. It’s gotten her to the Semifinals. Will the Finals await her later on tonight, or will this be the end of the road for the Las Vegas Siren for 2017?

The frantic opening to “Can You Feel It?” hits the PA system to a deafening mixed reaction from the audience. As purple-colored strobes flicker throughout the darkened arena, Evan Envi walks through the curtains toward the top of the ramp. He pauses, looking out among the audience with an arched brow before casually making his way toward the ring, a look of amusement crossing his face as he endures the varying reactions from the audience. He pauses just once at the bottom of the ramp, looking around the venue once more, a smirk spreading across his face.

Melanie Sierra: And her opponent, from Ocean City, Maryland! Weighing in at 203 pounds! He is “The Chief” EVAAAAAAN EEEEENNNNVIIIIII!!!

Finally, as Envi walks up the steel steps and onto the apron, the lights slowly return to normal. He climbs the ropes like a staircase, raising the double “V” fingers into the air as he pauses on the top turnbuckle and then drops down into the ring, fingers still raised above his head as he marches toward the far set of ropes, looking out into the audience with a wink, muttering something to himself as his music fades and his arms lower to his side, loosening up his limbs as he backs into the corner.

Geoff Penzer: Another individual that has been disrespected has been Evan Envi. But over the course of the last several weeks, we’ve seen the crowd slowly take a liking to The Chief. Everyone has always acknowledged Envi’s abilities as a wrestler and his technical prowess. But it’s been his mouth, as well as his actions outside the ring, that have drawn the ire of fellow wrestlers and fans alike. However, over the last few shows, there has been an increasing level of vocal support for the Chief. Neither of these two grapplers have been fan favorites as far as FGA fans are concerned. So it’ll be interesting to see who the fans side with in this one.

The bell sounds as Envi and Taylor begin circling the ring until they slow down and take notice of the crowd.

While there’s clearly a contingent of the crowd that supports The Chief, the vast majority of the crowd is against the Las Vegas Siren (but not necessarily in favor of Envi). The former Pride Champion scowls at the disrespect from the Albany crowd. She then rushes over and kicks the bottom rope, which elicits a loud surge of boos from the crowd. The two grapplers then begin to circle the ring until Envi slows down and takes notice of a change in the crowd.

There’s a genuine smile that slowly creeps across Envi’s mouth. Almost as if Envi is touched by the reaction. Before he can fully enjoy it, Taylor takes advantage of his lapse in concentration and attacks him with clubbing strikes from behind. The boos continue as Taylor waylays him with hard strikes to the back of the neck. She then places Envi in a side headlock and rakes his face along the top rope. When she lets go, Envi staggers into the nearby corner. From there, Taylor turns Envi around and lights up his chest with knife edge chops. After taking Envi by the wrist, Taylor goes for an irish whip. But Envi uses his free hand to grab onto the top rope, blocking the move. So Taylor goes for another irish whip. But again, it’s blocked. Envi then lets go of the rope, grabs Taylor, tosses her into the corner and unleashes an alternating flurry of European Uppercuts and knife edge chops. Both Envi and the crowd “WOOOOO” in between the strikes. He then takes Taylor and whips her into the opposite corner. The Chief rushes across the ring to attack. But he gets knocked back by a back elbow to the face. With Envi stunned, Taylor quickly hops onto the aporn through the ropes and goes to scale to the top turnbuckle. But as soon as she gets one foot on the top turnbuckle, Envi rushes back into the crowd and grabs a hold of her. The crowd cheers while Taylor shakes her head. She pleads with Envi not to throw her down. But Envi doesn’t want to hear any of it. The cheers continue as he slams Taylor down from off the top turnbuckle.

Geoff Penzer: Envi just slammed Taylor down with authority!

As Taylor returns to her feet, Envi rushes across the ring towards her and delivers a step up hurricanrana, sending the Las Vegas Siren through the ropes and to the floor. While Taylor is down on the outside, several pockets of fans stomp their feet in anticipation of an Envi dive to the outside. The Chief slowly turns around and sees the support from the crowd before acknowledging them with a light nod of the head. Once he turns and sees Taylor picking herself up on the floor, he turns and runs into the far ropes. When Envi comes back, he leaps through the ropes and knocks Taylor down with a suicide European Uppercut!

Geoff Penzer: The Chief wipes out Taylor with a diving uppercut to the outside!

Envi picks up Taylor and rolls her back inside. After climbing up onto the apron, Envi goes for a slingshot elbow drop across the back. But Taylor rolls out onto the apron, causing Envi to catch nothing but the canvas. Taylor then drags Envi back to the outside before ramming him back-first against the edge of the apron. Taylor pulls Envi away from the ring… only to run forward and ram him back-first against the edge of the apron. While The Chief continues to lean against the edge of the apron in pain, Taylor rolls back inside before running into the far ropes. When she returns, she connects with a baseball slide to the back of the head, sending Envi tumbling forward to the floor. While Envi is down on the outside, the ref continues his count.

Geoff Penzer: Envi’s still out on the floor and he hasn’t moved! If he doesn’t get back in soon, Taylor’s going to advance!

The crowd gasps, then cheers when Envi rolls back inside to beat the count. Taylor stays standing across the ring with her hands on her hips and a scowl on her face. The Las Vegas Siren proceeds to march across the ring before putting the boots to Envi. The boos continue as Taylor stomps the hell out of Envi. She then transitions to a foot choke while pulling down on the top rope. The ref quickly gives her to the count of five to break the choke.

Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…

Taylor reluctantly lets go. She then takes Envi by the legs, hooks her arms around his legs and positions Envi so that his neck is underneath the bottom rope. Taylor smirks before leaning back, catapulting Envi throat-first onto against the bottom rope! The crowd boos while Envi immediately clutches his throat.

Geoff Penzer: Taylor just catapulted Envi throat-first right into the bottom rope with no regardless for his well-being! We see just how far she’s willing to go to get to the Finals...

Taylor slips back to the outside and turns Envi over into the prone position. She then grabs Envi by the back of the neck with both hands and presses down hard, choking him against the edge of the apron. The ref steps through the ropes and gives her to the count of five to break the choke.

Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…

Taylor reluctantly lets go. After hopping up onto the apron, Taylor steps back towards the ring post. She then walks forward, leaps into the air and connects with a jumping leg drop across the back of the neck. The boos continue as Taylor slides back inside, drags Envi away from the ropes, turns him over and makes the cover.

Envi gets his shoulder up.

Taylor pulls up Envi and sends him stumbling backwards into the ropes with an elbow smash. She then heads over, grabs Envi and whips him into the far ropes. When Envi returns, Taylor throws out a clothesline. But Envi ducks and runs into the ropes. Upon his return, Taylor throws out a back elbow to the face. But again, The Chief ducks and runs into the ropes. When Envi returns, the crowd boos when Taylor tackles him down with a Lou Thesz Press. She then mounts herself on top of Envi before hammering down with a flurry of right hands to the face. The Las Vegas Siren gets off of Envi, pulls him back up to his feet, marches into the corner and slams him face-first into the top turnbuckle. After turning Envi around, Taylor delivers a blistering chop to the chest. After taking a step back, she reaches out with her leg and applies another foot choke while pulling down on the top rope. The ref quickly gives her to the count of five to break the choke.

Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…

Taylor reluctantly lets go.

Geoff Penzer: Taylor’s been all over Envi since the start of this contest. You could argue that she wants this Frontier Lions Cup more than anyone else in the tournament.

While Envi gasps for air, Taylor slaps him across the face before whipping him into the opposite corner. The Las Vegas Siren follows up by running across the ring to attack. But Envi’s able to duck and dump Taylor over the top rope. Once Taylor lands safely on the apron, she waits for Envi to turn around. When he does, he gets doubled over with a shoulder thrust through the ropes. Taylor then goes for a sunset flip when Envi counters with a gamengiri in mid-air, knocking Taylor down and sending her tumbling to the floor. The Chief gingerly touches his throat while Taylor remains on the floor. After Envi returns to his feet, he sees Taylor picking herself up on the outside. So he turns and runs into the far ropes. When Envi returns, Taylor quickly slides back in and cuts him off with a running yakuza kick! The crowd boos Envi being cut off. The Las Vegas Siren responds by putting her hand out to them. She then turns back to Envi. Taylor reaches down, pulls him up and sends him into the corner with an irish whip. Taylor then rushes forward, hurls herself at Envi and goes for a running hip strike. But Envi rolls out of the way, causing Taylor to crash into the turnbuckles to cheers from the crowd! While Taylor staggers out of the corner, Envi grabs her and throws her down with a belly to belly suplex. With Taylor sprawled out on the canvas, Envi turns and heads into the corner. Envi slowly looks around and hears the cheers from the crowd. The Chief smirks as he begins to make his way up the turnbuckles. Once he reaches the top, Envi slowly raises his arms in the air while the fans in attendance rise to their feet. He then flips back and goes for The Classics (diving moonsault). But Taylor rolls out of the way, causing Envi to splat on the canvas!

Geoff Penzer: Envi missed! Nobody was home on that one!

While Envi struggles to push himself up onto one knees, Taylor pulls herself up using the ropes in the corner. After she turns around, she charges over at Envi and flattens him with a Shining Wizard! The boos continue as she makes the cover.

Taylor picks up Envi and whips him into the ropes. Upon his return, he gets doubled over with a boot to the midsection before being planted with a DDT. Taylor turns over and makes the cover.

Taylor pulls up Envi and whips him hard into the corner before running into an adjacent set of ropes. When Taylor comes back, she catches Envi staggering out of the corner and brings him down with a running bulldog. The boos continue as she pulls Envi over before making the cover.

Envi gets his shoulder up.

Taylor sits up Envi and applies a rear chinlock. The ref gets down and asks Envi if he wants to give up. When Envi refuses, Taylor stands up before driving her knee hard into Envi’s back. The Chief cringes when Taylor reapplies the rear chinlock.

Geoff Penzer: Good strategy here by Taylor to try and wear down the Chief.

Taylor keeps the hold locked on while she’s got Envi right where she wants him. The ref continues to check in with Envi and asks if he wants to give up. But Envi refuses. He then begins to turn over onto his knees. After slowly returning to his feet, Envi nails Taylor with an elbow to the midsection. Once the hold is broken, he follows up with a European Uppercut. While Taylor is dazed, Envi runs forward into the ropes. When he comes back, the crowd boos when Taylor swings her around around Envi and applies a sleeper hold.

Geoff Penzer: Now Taylor’s got the sleeper locked in! Just when Envi thought he had an opening for a comeback, Taylor was right there to cut him off!

Envi begins swinging his arms wildly. Taylor grits her teeth as she cinches in the hold. The ref asks Envi if he wants to give up. But he refuses. The Chief then reaches out, grabs onto Taylor’s right arm and tries to pull it from around his neck. But it’s to no avail. Envi cringes when Taylor applies even more pressure to the hold. After a few, The Chief’s legs give out. He’s slowly brought down to a seated position while Taylor is down on one knee behind him. Taylor squeezes as hard as she can as she tries to fight for the submission or a referee stoppage. A weakened Envi reaches up and tries to pull Taylor’s arm from around his neck. But he doesn’t have the strength or the energy to escape. A look of hopelessness can be seen on The Chief’s face as he slowly begins to fade. The ref asks Envi if he wants to give up. But The Chief doesn’t respond. The ref asks him a second time if he’d like to give up. But again, he doesn’t get an answer. Envi can barely keep his eyes open at this point. The ref asks Envi a third time. Still no answer. At this point, a close up shot shows Envi’s eyes closing. Gasps can be heard from certain pockets of the crowd as they now realize Envi is seconds away from losing this match. Meanwhile, Taylor grins from ear to ear as she knows that this match is all but over. The ref grabs a hold of Envi’s arm, raises it up and let’s go. The arm starts to fall. But then it stops halfway, causing gasps and cheers from the crowd! Taylor’s eyes widen with shock when Envi slowly wags his finger at the ref.

Geoff Penzer: There’s still fight left in Evan Envi!

Envi opens his eyes. He slowly reaches his arm out to the crowd. Members of the crowd can be seen reaching their arms out to Envi to try and will him back into this match. Suddenly, chants for The Chief begin to make their way throughout the Times Union Center.

Envi begins to shake his fist while Taylor shakes her head in disbelief. Envi slowly turns over onto his knees. After battling back to a vertical base, Envi nails Taylor with four elbows to the midsection. Once the hold is broken, Envi quickly grabs Taylor and throws her down with a saito suplex. He makes the cover.

Envi picks up Taylor and goes for an irish whip. But Taylor reverses, sending The Chief into the ropes. When Envi returns, she throws out the Desert Rose (spinning backfist). But Envi ducks. When Taylor turns around, Envi lifts her up before throwing her down with authority using a Uranage! He makes the cover.

Taylor gets her shoulder up.

Envi pulls up Taylor and whips her into the corner. After running into the corner and connecting with a running European Uppercut, Envi goes to follow up with a running bulldog out of the corner. But Taylor shoves him off and into the ropes. When he returns, Taylor throws out another yakuza kick. This time, Envi catches her foot. After swinging her leg away from him, Envi grabs Taylor from behind and lifts her up for a German Suplex. But Taylor nails him with an elbow to the face on the way up, blocking the move. After being dropped back down, Taylor hits another back elbow to the face before performing a standing switch and driving Envi down with the Blonde Ambition (forward russian legsweep)! The boos continue as Taylor pulls Envi over before making the cover.

The crowd cheers when Envi gets his shoulder up.

Taylor pulls Envi back to his feet and places him in a standing front facelock. She’s got Envi set up for a DDT when he quickly counters into a bridging northern lights suplex.

Taylor gets her shoulder up.

Envi picks up Taylor, grabs her from the side and motions for a backdrop suplex. But Taylor blocks the move by delivering repeated elbows to the back of the head. She then places Envi in another front facelock before planting him with The Gamble (corkscrew neckbreaker)! With Envi sprawled out on the canvas, Taylor steps out onto the apron before climbing the turnbuckles. When she reaches the top, Taylor dives off and crashes down on top of Envi with a Frog Splash. Taylor returns to her feet before returning back out onto the apron. After scaling to the top turnbuckle, Taylor jumps off and comes down across Envi with another Frog Splash. But again, she’s not done! The Las Vegas Siren steps out onto the apron before climbing back up to the top turnbuckle. She then takes a second to take in the moment before leaping off and delivering a third Frog Splash! She hooks the leg.

The crowd gasps, then explodes with cheers when Envi gets his shoulder up.

Geoff Penzer: Envi just beat the three count! How, I have no clue. But he got the shoulder up and Taylor can’t believe it!

Taylor brings Envi back to his feet and nails him with four forearm strikes to the ace. She then steps back to throw out a roundhouse kick. But Envi swats the kick away before following up with a roundhouse kick of his own! He then takes Taylor and whips her it the ropes. When Taylor returns, Envi brings her down with a Kapowski Kick! Once Taylor turns over and gets up on a knee, Envi rushes over and knocks her down with a Shining Axe Kick! After dragging Taylor into position, Envi scales to the top turnbuckle, flips off and crashes down across Taylor with The Classics! The cheers continue as the Chief pulls Taylor to her feet, grabs her from behind and delivers a German Suplex. He then turns over, pulls Taylor back up to her feet and delivers a second German Suplex. Cameras go backstage to a hallway that is mostly empty. There are no production boxes, no equipment lining the halls of the Times Union Center. There aren’t even any people in the hall.

Except one.

Crouched underneath one of the fluorescent lights at the end of the hall is a person. The camera advances on the person, whose only movement is their breathing. As the camera gets about a foot or two away, their head raises. The voice is a dead giveaway.

Fujiko Mine: When I faced off against Johnny Karma for the Pride championship last summer, I’m sure there were plenty in the business who believed that I couldn’t beat him. After all, he’d gotten a couple over on me prior to that, and everyone saw me as a kind of “choke artist”. They’d watched as I looked foolish in defeat against Noelle Smith. But then, at All Star Showdown...I beat him.

Fujiko’s face becomes visible for the first time, and her emotionless eyes stare past the camera, rather than into it.

Fujiko Mine: I had plans to make that championship great. I wanted to defend it in the name of Frontier Grappling Arts. I wanted to make that target on my back a large one. I relished the idea of making the Pride title one everyone would seek to try and take from me.

A humorless smirk creeps across her face.

Fujiko Mine: I succeeded, part way. I took it to SSWA, and defended it. I had a slew of challengers waiting. But then, I failed. Molly Reid shocked me. She beat me, and took away my hopes and dreams.

Her eyes drift downwards.

Fujiko Mine: To add insult to injury, I returned to the locker room to find out that my mother was very ill. Pancreatic Cancer. They expected her to live another year.

Fujiko’s voice cracks a bit as she struggles with the words.

Fujiko Mine: She...she barely made it four weeks.

There is a substantial pause. She tries to continue, but merely lowers her head for a few moments. When she brings her head back up, it’s clear that she failed in holding back the tears. Her cheeks bear the marks of tears that cascaded down them.

Fujiko Mine: She never really believed I could do this. For the longest time, she did anything she could to get me to stop. Part of me felt held back by that. Like I wasn’t able to believe in myself until she believed in me. So when I won that championship, it was my last ditch effort to get her to believe.

She absentmindedly wipes away an oncoming tear.

Fujiko Mine: It worked. She began to believe. She finally joined in on the journey that all of you were already on. She finally wanted on the Fujiko bandwagon. And while I wanted to shame her for not believing in me all along…

...I was overjoyed. It was nice to have that support I clamored for all along. Don’t get me wrong, I live and thrive off of the support my friends and fans have given me, but she was...different.

Fujiko adjusts her squat, taking the pressure off her knees for a moment.

Fujiko Mine: And of course, as soon as I hit the high point, here comes the valley in the form of Molly Reid. She took that away from me. There’s no blame laid at her feet. She did what she said she was going to do. So I lost my championship, my source of pride...no pun intended, and my  mother in the span of a few weeks.

So when I was done grieving, after I put away the shame, anger, and hurt that I felt over the situation, I decided that I wasn’t going to be anyone stepping stone anymore. Molly Reid used me and that victory to get where she is now. Others have used my name to help elevate their stature. Chris Madison plans to use a victory over me tonight to help elevate his status and his championship.

She rolls her shoulders, one by one. Then she pierces the camera with her gaze.

Fujiko Mine: So I decided that I needed to come back to Frontier Grappling Arts. Because whether she knows it or she doesn’t, Molly Reid and that Pride Championship are the demons I need to exorcise. I needed to come back and beat Molly Reid. Not for my ego, not because I wanted to take her spotlight, but because I needed to get over one of my biggest critics in the same match that started it all. I needed to not fail my “2nd chance.” And that directly translates into why I need to beat Chris Madison and take back that Pride championship.

She takes in a short breath.

Fujiko Mine: Chris wants to beat me because he enjoys the status of being known as a great Pride champion. That’s it. Chris Madison and I want the same thing. To be the Pride champion, and to elevate that title to new heights. But our motivations are different. He may be driven by his internal need to be the best. But I…

A short laugh passes her teeth.

Fujiko Mine: I am driven by that, and more. By every single person who has ever believed that I can’t beat Chris Madison. By every person who believed I couldn’t beat Molly Reid. By every person who still whispers behind my back, even after I proved them wrong. By every person who told me that the history that I made in FGA doesn’t matter, or it doesn’t count. By people who think that I’ve done NOTHING in the seven years I’ve been a wrestler. By everyone who has ever doubted me. And I am driven by my mother, who right before the end...finally believed in me.

She checks her emotions in an exhale.

Fujiko Mine: This one’s for you. I’ll keep making you proud. And I will be Pride champion again.

She preps herself, then pushes up to her full height. She flexes her legs a bit, then walks towards...and past the camera.

We transition back to ringside.

The Final Frontier feed cuts backstage and we find Spencer Burke with a camera crew in tow, pacing back and forth in front of a locker room door. His eyes continuously shift towards the large metal door, anxiously waiting for it to open. Spencer freezes as the door swings open and Frankie Morrison steps out. Burke’s shoulders slumped as an immediate look of disappointment had become visible.

Frankie Morrison: What’d you think was going to happen Spence? Chris was going to come out here, break his concentration, just to appease you with a few minutes of his time?

Spencer Burke: Well I hoped…

Frankie Morrison: Anything you need to ask him, you can ask me instead. Let the Pride Champion be so he can prepare for what promises to be one hell of a championship match.

Slightly discouraged, Spencer sighed and mulled pulling the plug on the segment.

Spencer Burke: After defeating Molly Reid at Patriot Games in a Pride Rules match, Fujiko Mine wasted no time to make her intentions of challenging your client, Chris Madison, for the FGA Pride Championship clear. In even less time, Chris accepted her challenge and the two became destined for tonight’s match on the first night of Final Frontier. Was that a knee jerk reaction? Was there any discussion between the two of prior?

Frankie Morrison: Chris is a creature of habit. He has his routines throughout the week, preparing for matches. He has gameday rituals that he follows on the nights of an event. That first Vertigo after Patriot Games and Trouble in Paradise, we came to the arena expecting some of the roster to be a bit froggy. But when Fujiko fired that first shot, Chris’s eyes lit up and saw an opportunity that he just couldn’t pass up. There didn’t need to be a discussion. I know what the Pride Championship means to him and what he wants the FGA faithful to see him as. When a former Pride Champion comes knocking at the door, looking for a fight, you better believe Chris is going to answer. He wants to go down as one of the best, fighting Pride Champions that FGA has ever crowned. Holding a successful defense against a former champion under your belt is a surefire way to get the ball rolling in that direction, don’t ya think?

Spencer Burke: Well, yeah. Chris has surely not backed down from a fight during his time as Champion. He stumbled along the way a few times, losing to Molly Reid in his first attempt to capture the crown, and then losing to Savannah Taylor in his first attempt to defend the crown. Does his will to portray himself as a fighting champion handicap him in any way?

Frankie Morrison: Hell no. Sure he could bide his time and let those days between championship matches build up. But where is the honor in that? His predecessors might have been alright with a title defense every few months, but that doesn’t sit well with him. As much as we adore Fujiko and respect the talent that she is, she was part of the problem. As champion she defended the belt once before losing it to Molly Reid. That title defense against Elizabeth Lannister wasn’t even at an FGA show.

Spencer Burke: So what’s your point?

Frankie Morrison: She’s got no pride in that championship, only pride in herself. She’s not looking to elevate the Pride Division, she’s looking to bury it underneath her ego! Social Media hashtags, title defenses on foreign soil, Fujiko is building a brand and she needs that championship to fortify her credibility. Without it, she’s just a sad individual desperately seeking attention.

Spencer stood with his mouth agape, taken back by the remarks made by Frankie Morrison.

Spencer Burke: I think that’s a little harsh and far fetched.

Frankie Morrison: Is it really though?

Both Spencer Burke and Frankie Morrison suddenly freeze up as the locker room door swings open once again. Chris Madison marches through the doorway, dressed for action, with the FGA Pride Championship secured around his waist. He looks Spencer Burke up and down before reaching over and patting his manager on the shoulder.

Chris Madison: Hope Frankie hasn’t been breaking your balls too hard Spence.

Frankie Morrison: We were just discussing your opponent, Fujiko Mine.

A smirk quickly runs across Madison’s face as he tilts his head up and exhales.

Chris Madison: Is that so?

Frankie Morrison: It is… And Spencer here, thinks I’m being unfair when I say that Fujiko Mine is only out for herself.

Chris turns his head and looks at Spencer Burke, slowly nodding as he rubs the palms of his leather fight gloves together. Spencer Burke suddenly shrinks two inches, slouching down as he takes a half step backwards.

Spencer Burke: I just...

Chris Madison: ...just what Spencer? I’m sick and tired of Fujiko Mine expecting the red carpet to be rolled out for her. In her mind she truly believes that she is some pioneer of the Pride Division and should be treated as such. Fighting for the championship that she feels she never deserved to lose… Molly beat you clean, two to one, Fujiko. There was no injustice, you just simply failed and afterwards the two of you shook hands. If you were so wronged, where did you go? Why sail off into the sunset only to be heard from over a half of a year later? I’ll tell you why… As talented as you are, you don’t have the heart of a warrior. You tucked your tail between your legs and vanished to lick your wounds instead of trying to fight and get back the championship that you supposedly hold so dear to your heart.

Spencer Burke: I don’t think that’s entirely fair. Since her return, Fujiko has made it her mission to pick up where she left off. She got retribution in the form of a win over Molly Reid in a Pride Rules match and has since been hot on your heels.

Chris Madison: She’s been good, I’ll never refute that. But good enough to strip me of this?

Chris pats the main plate of the Pride Championship that sits on his waist.

Chris Madison: Tonight, this little comeback tour of hers ends and I can get back to revitalizin’ a division that she helped bury!

Chris nods his head, signaling for his manager to follow as he steps away from Spencer Burke. Morrison steps through the picture before the feed cuts away.

J.A. Aldridge: The following contest is contested under Pride Rules and it is for the FGA PRIDE CHAMPIONSHIP!

The arena plunges into darkness as the opening chords of “Palladio” by Escala play through the arena. A single figure is then lit up on the stage, wearing a white tuxedo with a black half mask. He carefully plays the first few bars along, and as more instruments join in, more people are lit up. Before long, an entire orchestra is playing the opening to Palladio. As the song gets into it’s full swing, the lights begin to rise in the arena. Droves of women begin to flood the ringside area, all dressed in black with bird like features. Feathers sticking out at the wrists and arms, and beak-like masks. A group of them near the northeast ring post begin to form a tunnel of sorts, angling near the guardrail. From that area, Fujiko Mine emerges, wearing a monochrome version of her attire.

Kris Cruise: Every major FGA event that Fujiko Mine has been a part of, we’ve seen her get very creative with her entrances. It seems like tonight is no exception, with the Pride Championship on the line!

Stephy Auger: Maybe if she focused less on this stupid entrance, and more on her opponent, she might have more than a one percent chance of winning tonight!

The crowd cheers loudly upon seeing her emerge, and she strides to the ring, as if she we moving quickly across a tightrope. She stops a few feet shy of the railing, then gracefully flips over it.

J.A Aldridge: ...and residing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin! She is the “Apex Goddess”, Fujiko Mine!!

The women at ringside raise their arms, creating quite the spectacle as Fujiko ascends to the top turnbuckle. She poses, and the women all point to her. A spotlight joins them for a few seconds, and she finally dismounts and stands in the ring. The women at ringside head towards the entrance ramp, leaving Fujiko standing alone.

Kris Cruise:  Notice that there is no Xena tonight, Fujiko is out here alone to face Chris Madison.

Stephy Auger: Hah! She’s definitely has no chance now! Xena was the only way she was even going to get a fall!

Kris Cruise:  Nevermind that she’s won the Pride Championship on her own merit before…

Stephy Auger: But she’s never faced Chris Madison before. She’s getting put down tonight!

The arena's lights dim to black as the opening guitar riffs to "War Machine" by KISS begin to screech over the P.A. system. The video screen lights up with visual static noise. Suddenly in the center of the screen a black handprint begins pulsating to the beat of the drum that has began to play. A spotlight shines on the entrance ramp and we see Chris Madison standing with his head bowed under a black towel, wearing an official FGA licensed t-shirt that says, "Always Ready For War," across the chest, and the FGA Pride Championship secured around his waist. He nods his head and taps the main plate of the championship belt to the beat of the drums. As the chorus breaks he rips the towel from his head and tosses it into the live audience, starting his way down the ramp toward, the ring.

J.A. Aldridge: And her opponent, coming to the ring from Long Island, New York, weighing in at two hundred twenty pounds and standing six feet tall, the FGA PRIDE CHAMPION, "Mayhem" CHRIS MAAADDIISSOONN!!!

Madison makes it to the base of the steps and places one foot down before scoping out the fans directly behind him by peering over his shoulder. He smirks as the live audience sings along to the entrance music and then marches up the steps and climbs through the ropes. He immediately leaps up onto the middle rope and faces out towards the crowd. He brings his fists up to his face and punches his jaw with each hand before shooting his arms out horizontally with his hands wide open, welcoming whatever challenge is coming his way. Madison hops backwards, bouncing off of his feet and turns towards the center of the ring, snarling and ready to go. He reaches behind his back and unsnaps the FGA Pride Championship, slowly raising it above his head, inducing a roar from the crowd behind him.

Kris Cruise: The Champion is primed and ready for this huge championship match. Madison still has a sour taste in his mouth from his “successful championship defense” against Brian Stryker. That’s not the way that Madison wants to win matches, let alone have a championship defense go down in the books. Madison wants to elevate the Pride Championship with great matches filled with pure wrestling. But that didn’t happen on that occasion thanks to Julian Tijerina and our General Manager, Brandon Macdonald!

Stephy Auger: For the last time, Brandon Macdonald had nothing to do with the attack on Brian Stryker! Julian Tijerina is his own man. He wasn’t put up to do that by Macdonald. Our GM has more integrity than that and I’m offended that you and other people on both rosters continue put that theory out there! As far as tonight is concerned, Madison wants a clean championship defense on his record to make up for what happened a few weeks ago against Bran Stryker. Madison is going to be driven more than he’s ever been to walk out of here with his championship in tow. That’s why I think he’s going to walk out of this arena still the Pride Champion.

Both champion and challenger stand in front of each other as the referee gives them the rundown of the Pride Rules. After concluding the rules, the referee instructs both grapplers to shake hands. The crowd cheers upon seeing Madison and Fujiko engage in a firm handshake. Both champion and challenger then turn to make their way back to their respective corners. Fujiko does a bit of stretching in her corner while Frankie Morrison climbs the aporn to give Madison some last minute words of encouragement and tips. Morrison climbs down off the apron as the bell sounds. Tonight’s capacity crowd comes to life and begins cheering for both grapplers as they circle the ring.

After coming to a stop, Madison and Fujiko size each other up before slowly approaching the center of the ring. They then lunge forward and engage in a snug collar-and-elbow tie up. After jockeying for position, Madison quickly uses his strength advantage to move Fujiko across the ring and into the corner. After pressing Fujiko up against the turnbuckles, the ref heads over and gives both grapplers until a count of five to break it up.

Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…

Both grapplers make a clean break. Madison then steps back towards the center of the ring. Once the coast is clear, Fujiko makes her way out of the corner and begins circling the ring. Lady Luck slows down before beginning to inch her way over towards the champion. The two engage in another collar-and-elbow tie up. They jockey for position. Fujiko begins to move Madison back. But Mayhem is quick to put on the brakes and move Fujiko in the opposite direction. Madison continues to move Fujiko backwards until Fujiko pivots at the last second and presses Madison against the ropes. The ref heads back over and gives both grapplers until the count of five to break it up.

Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…

Both grapplers make a clean break before Fujiko steps back towards the center of the ring. Madison makes his way off the ropes and begins to circle the ring. The Pride Champion then slows down as he begins to make his way over towards the challenger. He fakes a collar-and-elbow tie up before going down and trying for a double leg takedown. But Fujiko blocks with a sprawl. Madison tries to muscle Fujiko down to the canvas. But the challenger is doing a good job of holding her ground and staying on her feet. She then quickly slips on a standing guillotine to the crowd’s surprise. Before Fujiko can fully cinch in the hold, Madison hoists her up, runs towards the corner and rams her back-first into the turnbuckles. From there, Madison unleashes a series of shoulder thrusts to the midsection. He then takes Fujiko and goes for an irish whip. But Fujiko reverses, sending Madison across the ring and into the turnbuckles. Fujiko then runs across the ring to follow up with an attack. But Madison is able to duck and dump Fujiko over the top rope. After Fujiko lands safely on the apron, she doubles Madison over with a shoulder thrust through the ropes. Fujiko then goes for a sunset flip. But Madison’s able to catch her across his shoulders, turn and throw her down hard with an Alabama Slam! Cheers and applause are heard from the crowd as he drops down to make the cover.

Kris Cruise: What a counter by Madison! He just threw Fujiko down with authority! But it only gets two!

Stephy Auger: Still, that’s a big move to take this early in the match. I’m sure her head’s ringing after that Alabama Slam.

Madison picks up Fujiko, moves her back into the corner and places her in a Muay Thai Clinch. From there, Madison delivers hard knees to the midsection. That last of which doubles Fujiko over. He then takes the challenger and whips her hard into the opposite corner. After Fujiko crashes back-first into the turnbuckles, she staggers from out of the corner and back over towards Madison. Madison goes to follow up with a tilt-a-whirl slam. But Fujiko counters with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors takedown! Madison gets back up, only to get knocked back down with a dropkick. Madison returns to his feet, only to get returned to the mat by another dropkick. Once Madison returns to a vertical base, Fujiko rushes over and connects with a front dropkick, knocking Madison through the ropes and onto the apron. As Madison pulls himself up on the apron using the ropes, Fujiko runs over into the corner and connects with a triangle dropkick, knocking Madison off the apron and to the floor!

While Madison is sprawled out on the outside, Fujiko circles the ring while clapping her hands over her head. The crowd quickly takes their cue from the Apex Goddess and join in with the clapping. Once Madison can be seen up on one knee, Fujiko turns and runs into the far ropes. When Fujiko comes back, she flips over the top rope and knocks Madison down with a topé con giro! The crowd cheers while Madison is sprawled out on the apron. But instead of Fujiko returning to her feet, she stays on the floor holding her lower back.

Kris Cruise: Fujiko takes it to the air for our first high-mask move of the match and wipes out Chris Madison!

Stephy Auger: Yeah, but look at her! She’s holding her back! That move might have hurt her more than it did the champion!

Fujiko gets back to her feet, grabs Madison and rolls him back inside. She then slides back in and makes the cover.

Fujiko picks up Madison, moves him into the corner and delivers three knife edge chops. She then goes for an irish whip. But Madison reverses, sending Fujiko crashing into the opposite corner. Madison then runs across the ring to attack. But Fujiko knocks him back with a back elbow to the face. Madison runs back into the corner. This time, Fujiko knocks him back with a boot to the face. After slingshotting herself out onto the apron, Fujiko springboards to the top turnbuckle, dives off and knocks him down with a missile dropkick! The cheers continue as Fujiko crawls over and makes the cover.

Fujiko picks up Madison and goes for an irish whip. But Madison reverses, sending Fujiko into the ropes. When she returns, Madison sets up for a back body drop. But Fujiko cartwheels out of the way. Once Madison stands up and turns around, Fujiko doubles him over with a spinning back kick to the midsection. Fujiko then runs forward into the ropes. When she comes back, Madison stands up and catches her with a back elbow to the face. While Fujiko is stunned, Madison turns and runs into the ropes. When he comes back, he sees Fujiko running past him. So he slams on the brakes. When Madison turns around, Fujiko knocks him down with a handspring enzuigiri! The cheers continue as she makes the cover.

Fujiko brings Madison back to his feet and nails him with a knife edge chop. After taking control of his wrist, Fujiko performs an arm wrench before bringing him down with a headscissors takedown. Fujiko then delivers a double foot stomp onto Madison’s midsection. Instead of hopping off of Madison’s midsection, Fujiko stays on top of him before quickly following up with a standing moonsault! Applause can be heard while she hooks the leg.

Madison gets his shoulder up.

Fujiko brings Madison back to his feet before connecting with a leg-feed enziguri that sends him staggering across the ring and into the corner. She then heads into the corner, hoists herself up onto the middle ropes, grabs Madison and plants him with a Tornado DDT! While Madison is sprawled out on the mat, Fujiko steps out onto the apron, scales to the top turnbuckle, leaps off and goes for a diving double foot stomp. But Madison’s able to roll out of the way. Once Fujiko lands on her feet, her momentum sends her rolling forward. After Fujiko rolls back to her feet and turns around, Madison goes to take her head off with a running yakuza kick. But Fujiko rolls out of the way and knocks him off his feet with a leg sweep. She then goes to follow up with a standing Shooting Star Press. But Madison rolls out of the way, causing Fujiko to splat on the canvas. While the challenger is picking herself up off the mat, Madison beats her back to a vertical base, rushes behind her and applies a waistlock. Before he can lift Fujiko up, she nails him with repeated elbows to the face. Once the hold is broken, Fujiko runs forward into the ropes. When Fujiko comes back, she sees Madison running past her. So Fujiko slams on the brakes. When she turns around, the crowd cheers when Madison tackles her down with a Lou Thesz Press! He then mounts himself on top of the challenger and hammers down with 12-to-6 elbows to the face.

Kris Cruise: Madison’s finally back on offense with those 12-to-6 elbows!

Madison pulls Fujiko back up, places her in another Muay Thai Clinch and delivers a hard knee strike to the face, sending Fujiko stumbling back into the corner. While Fujiko tries to shake out the cobwebs, Madison runs across the ring and turns her around in the corner with a running yakuza kick. He then quickly grabs Fujiko around the waist from behind and delivers an O’Connor Roll transitoned into a bridging German Suplex!

Kris Cruise: Fujiko showed a ton of fight and a ton of heart in the waning moments of that first fall before succumbing to the End Game. Now down 0-1, Fujiko HAS to win these next two falls in she wants to leave here as the Prie Champion!

Stephy Auger: Who knows how all of those blows to the head are going to affect Fujiko going forward.

After the mandatory rest period has ended, the bell sounds to start the second period. Madison looks across the ring and sees Fujiko barely getting up onto a knee. The champion then lines Fujiko up before darting across the ring. He throws out a running bicycle knee to the face. But Fujiko’s able to slip out of the way. After Madison lands on his feet and turns around, he gets caught with a gamengiri that knocks him through the ropes and onto the apron. Once Madison pulls himself up using the ropes, Fujiko heads into the corner and connects with a corner springboard roundhouse kick, knocking Madison off the apron and to the floor. While Madison tries to get up on the outside, Fujiko gets up on all fours before slowly returning to her feet. When Madison finally gets back to a vertical base, Fujiko turns and runs into the ropes. When she comes back, she leaps through the ropes to go for a topé suicida. But Madison counters with a bicycle knee strike to the head, knocking her down!

Kris Cruise: My God, did you hear that!?

Stephy Auger: How could I not!?

Kris Cruise: Fujiko’s got to be out cold! She’s got to be!

Madison pulls up a motionless Fujiko up from off the floor and pushes her back into the ring. After rolling back inside, Madison makes the cover.

Madison picks up Fujiko, brings her over towards the center of the ring and goes for another brainbuster. But Fujiko’s able to block the move. So Madison tries to lift her up for another brainbuster. This time, Fujiko drops down to a knee. Madison then squats down, grabs a hold of Fujiko and goes to hoist her up for a deadlift brainbuster when Fujiko knees him in the head on the way up. After Fujiko’s lowered back down, she knocks Madison back with a handstand calf kick. When Fujiko gets back to her feet, she runs across the ring, grabs Madison and plants him with a rope-assisted Tornado DDT. She makes the cover.

Fujiko picks up Madison, wrenches his arm and brings him down with a Complete Shot. After bouncing off the ropes, Fujiko comes back and throws out a running double foot stop. But Madison rolls out of the way. As soon as Fujiko lands on her feet, she flips back and goes for a standing moonsault. But again, Madison’s able to roll out of the way. As soon as Fujiko lands on her feet, she flips forward and catches Madison with a standing Shooting Star Press! She hooks the leg.

Fujiko brings Madison back to his feet and nails him with a shoot kick to the chest. She then nails him with another shoot kick to the chest that knocks him back. Fujiko marches over and knocks him back with another shoot kick to the chest. A fourth shoot kick knocks Madison backwards into the ropes. After hooking Madison’s arms around the top rope, Fujiko unleashes a series of shoot kicks to the chest. She then turns and runs into the far ropes. When Fujiko returns, Madison quickly unhooks his arms and dumps her over the top rope. But again, Fujiko’s able to land safely on the apron. When Madison turns around and throws out a strike, Fujiko ducks the strike and slides back in through his legs. When Madison turns around, Fujiko quickly gets to her feet and throws out a 360 Kick. But Madison ducks and quickly lifts Fujiko up onto his shoulders. The crowd gasps and cheers as Madison walks back towards the center of the ring. He’s about to deliver the End Game when Fujiko counters with multiple elbow strikes to the top of the head. She then flips back, planting Madison with a poison rana! After Madison rolls over onto his knees, Fujiko rushes back over and plants him with a basement hurricanrana! She makes the cover.

Once Madison gets back to a vertical base, Fujiko charges at him and connects with a front dropkick, sending him flying into the corner. After Madison bounces off the turnbuckles and crumbles to the mat, Fujiko steps out onto the apron and scales to the top turnbuckle. The crowd jump to their feet before Fujiko leaps off and crashes down on top of Madison with a diving double foot stomp! She makes the cover.

Fujiko heads out onto the apron. After repeatedly slapping the top turnbuckle to get the crowd hyped, Fujiko begins to climb up towards the top. Just as she’s near the top, Madison runs up onto the second turnbuckle and nails her with a punch to the midsection. He then goes to lift her up for a superplex when again, Fujiko knees him in the head on the way up. After slipping down from behind and landing on her feet, Fujiko jumps up and doubles Madison over with a clubbing strike to the back. After pulling Madison’s head down and trapping it against the top turnbuckle, Fujiko delivers Yount’s 3000th Hit (Cheeky Nandos Kick/Powerbomb Combo)! Cheers and applause continue while Fujiko drops down to make the cover.

While Fujiko is stunned, Madison turns her around, grabs her from behind and knocks her down with Comatosed (ripcord rolling elbow)! He drops down and makes the cover.

Once Madison gets onto the top turnbuckle, Fujiko rushes into the corner and shoves Madison’s legs out from under him! Madison groans once he drops down and winds up crotched on the top turnbuckle. Fujiko then steps out onto the apron before climbing the turnbuckles. She then climbs up onto Madison’s shoulders, turns and flips back, bringing him down with a dragonsteiner!

Madison tries to sit up, but then immediately drops back down. The champion then slowly turns over into the prone position. After Madison struggles to get back to his feet, Fujiko connects with a spinning back kick to the midsection before immediately following up with the Lucky Shot (backflip flash kick), knocking him down! But she quickly drops back down to a knee. Madison then rushes across the ring before connecting with a bicycle knee strike to the back of the head. Mayhem then reaches down, peels Fujiko off the mat from behind, rolls her out in front of him and turns her inside out with the Comatosed! Madison reaches down, pulls up Fujiko, lifts her up and then plants her with a brainbuster! He makes the cover.

Fujiko continues to try and fight her way out of it. But Madison’s got the hold cinched in. He then swings his right leg over Fujiko’s back while keeping his left leg over the back of her head. Fujiko can be heard groaning in agony as Madison’s got the hold fully locked in!

Stephy Auger: She’s trapped!

Half of the crowd is yelling “PLEASE DON’T TAP!!!” while the other half is yelling “TAP TAP TAP TAP!!!” Fujiko can be seeing trying her hardest to try and pull Madison’s hands from around her. But it’s to no avail. Madison cringes while he squeezes as hard as he possibly can. Morrison can be seen repeatedly slapping the apron and telling Madison not to let up. Fujiko’s movement get slower and slower the longer she remains in the hold. The ref asks her if she wants to give up. Fujiko refuses. But she doesn’t tell him right away. The Inescapable Goddess tries to find a way to escape this hold. But she’s trapped in the center of the ring. Madison continues to cringe as keeps the hold locked on as tight as he can. The ref asks Fujiko if she wants to give up. But she doesn’t answer. The ref asks her again if she’d like to give up. Still no answer. The referee then checks to see if Fujiko is conscious. Once the referee determines that she’s unconscious, the crowd cheers when he calls for the bell.

Kris Cruise: It’s over! It’s over!

The crowd explodes with cheers as “War Machine” blasts over the PA.

The cheers continue as Morrison takes the title and brings it into the ring. After he helps Madison to his feet, he hands Madison the Pride Championship and raises his arm in victory.

Kris Cruise: Chris Madison has done he! He has successfully retained his Pride Champion against Fujiko Mine! What a match we’ve just seen these two have!

The referee goes over and raises Madison’s hand in victory as well. Madison takes the Pride Championship, taps the center plate of the belt and kisses it before raising it in the air. An exhausted Madison slowly makes his way over into the corner. Morrison pats his back while he tells him what a great job he’s just done. While Madison uses the turnbuckles to prop himself up, Fujiko can finally be seen coming to in the middle of the ring. The challenger gets up onto all fours before slowly getting up on her knees. Fujiko places her hands on her hips and shakes her head when she finally realizes what has happened and that she lost. Cheers and applause can be heard for Fujiko as she slowly gets back to a vertical base. Fujiko gingerly makes her way over towards Madison. The Pride Champion begins to make his way out of the corner. After champion and challenger stare each other down, Fujiko looks down as she extends her hand to applause from the crowd. Madison gladly accepts the offer and shakes Fujiko’s hand. Cheers and applause are heard throughout Times Union Center as Fujiko raises Madison’s arm and vice versa.

As purple-colored strobes flicker throughout the darkened arena, Evan Envi walks through the curtains toward the top of the ramp. He pauses, looking out among the audience with an arched brow before casually making his way toward the ring, a look of amusement crossing his face as he endures the varying reactions from the audience. He pauses just once at the bottom of the ramp, looking around the venue once more, a smirk spreading across his face.+

Melanie Sierra: Introducing first representing Flashpoint! From Ocean City, Maryland! Weighing in at 203 pounds! He is “The Chiief” EVAAAAAAN EEENNNNNNNVIIIIIII!!!

Finally, as Envi walks up the steel steps and onto the apron, the lights slowly return to normal. He climbs the ropes like a staircase, raising the double “V” fingers into the air as he pauses on the top turnbuckle and then drops down into the ring, fingers still raised above his head as he marches toward the far set of ropes, looking out into the audience with a wink, muttering something to himself as his music fades and his arms lower to his side, loosening up his limbs as he backs into the corner.

Stephy Auger: And you’re going to add Envi to that list once Gonsalves beats him here. Envi is going to either tap, snap or nap here tonight whether you like it or not, Penzie. The choice is his on how he wants to go out. But believe me when I say that Envi will go down in the main event.

Geoff Penzer: I’ve got all the respect for Owen Gonsalves. He’s far from a slouch. Everyone already knew that he as a world class grappler. Once Envi is in the corner, Gonsalves takes The Chief and goes for an irish whip. But Envi reverses, sending Gonsalves crashing into the opposite corner. Envi then charges across the ring and throws out a running European Uppercut. But Gonsalves moves out of the way, causing Envi to crash into the turnbuckles. As Envi stumbles back and turns around, Gonsalves throws him down with an arm drag. Envi gets back to his feet, only to get send back down by another deep arm drag. Gonsalves quickly transitions into an armbar. The ref asks Envi if he wants to give up. Instead of answering, Envi kicks his foot out of frustration.

Stephy Auger: Look at Gonsalves making the The Chief look silly.

Kris Cruise: I wouldn’t say that Envi is being made to look silly at all. But Gonsalves did win that exchange.

Geoff Penzer: There’s till plenty of match left, though..

After The Chief battles back to a vertical base, he grabs Gonsalves with his free arm, moves him into the ropes and then shoves him off into the far ropes. When Gonsalves returns, Envi knocks him down with a standing shoulder block. He then turns and runs into the ropes. When Envi comes back, Gonsalves turns over onto his back. Instead of hopping over Gonsalves, Envi stops and quickly drops an elbow across Gonsalves’ back. Envi points to his temple to show his smarts before pulling Gonsalves over and making the cover.

Envi pulls up Gonsalves to his feet. As soon as he grabs a hold of Gonsalves’ wrist with both hands Envi smiles from ear to ear as he applies an arm wrench. Envi hollars at Gonsalves as he delivers another standard arm wrench, then a reverse arm wrench, then another standard arm wrench. Gonsalves then rolls forward, leans back and kips up. But Envi quickly grabs Gonsalves by the hair and throws him down to the canvas. Gonsalves kips back up, only for Envi to grab him by the hair and throw him back down to the canvas. After Gonsalves kips back up, he wrenches Envi’s arm, bends his wrist in the opposite direction and applies the Jim Breaks Special. Envi howls while Gonsalves has the hold applied.

Kris Cruise: Envi’s in immense pain, guys!

Stephy Auger: He’s at Gonsalves’ mercy!

Geoff Penzer: This doesn't look good for The Chief. He’s got to find a way out of this.

The ref asks Envi if he wants to give up. When The Chief refuses, Gonsalves hoists him up into the air and holds him in place after transitioning into an elevated Jim Breaks Special. Envi groans in agony with all the pressure being applied to his shoulder and wrist. The ref asks Envi if he wants to give up. But Envi refuses by shaking his head vehemently from side to side. Gonsalves then shoves Envi away from him, sending Envi crashing down back-first onto the canvas. After Envi turns over on all four and gets back to his feet, Gonsalves spins him back towards him and applies a front facelock. Before he can cinch in the hold, Envi’s able to slip out and reverse into a hammerlock. The Chief smiles after his successful reversal. But the hold doesn’t stay on for long as Gonsalves reaches back with his free arm, grabs a hold of Envi’s neck and brings him down to the canvas with a jumping snapmare takedown.

After Envi returns to his feet, he rushes back cover at Gonsalves. But Gonsalves responds by a side headlock takedown. Envi quickly reverses into a headscissors. But Gonsalves is able to quickly escape with a kip up. After Envi scrambles back to a vertical base, he charges back cover at Gonsalves. This time, Gonsalves greets him with another arm wrench before sending Envi crashing down shoulder-first to the canvas with an arm wringer. Once Envi gets up on his knees, Gonsalves reaches down and places him in a cravate. The Chief howls in pain while Gonsalves applies pressure to the neck. After Envi battles back to a vertical base, Gonsalves takes him down with a snapmare before flattening him on the canvas with a shoot kick to the chest. Gonsalves reaches down, bends Envi’s right arm at 90 degrees and then presses Envi’s palm down on the canvas. From there, Gonsalves quickly delivers a jumping stomp to the elbow. The crowd cheers as the The Chief howls in agony. He quickly grabs a hold of the arm before rolling away from Gonsalves. But the Indestructible is right on top of Envi. He grabs Envi by the ankle, drags him back towards the center of the ring and goes to reach for the right arm. But Envi quickly swings his leg up and catches him with a kick to the side of the head. While Gonsalves turns and staggers away from Envi, The Chief gets back to a vertical base.

Envi grabs Gonsalves from behind, marches into the corner and slams him face-first into the top turnbuckle. After turning Gonsalves around, Envi unleashes a flurry of alternating knife edge chops and European Uppercuts. Both Envi and the crowd “WOOOOOOO” between each strike. The Chief then takes Gonsalves and goes for an irish whip. But Gonsalves reverses, sending Envi into the opposite corner. Gonsalves then runs across the ring to attack. But Envi is able to counter by throwing him down with a side slam! While Gonsalves is sprawled out on the canvas, Envi turns away from him and climbs the turnbuckles.

Kris Cruise: Envi’s looking for something high risk!

Geoff Penzer: I know it’s early in the match to go for something like this. But this is the Finals of the Frontier Lions Cup! Go big or go home!

Once Envi reaches the top, he flips back and goes for The Classic (diving moonsault). But Gonsalves rolls out of the way, causing Envi to crash onto the canvas.

Stephy Auger: Nice job, Envi! Nice job!

Geoff Penzer: Gonsalves rolled out of the way just in time!

As Envi tries to get back to his feet, Gonsalves rushes over, leaps onto Envi and wraps his legs around his waist while applying a Kimura to his right arm.

Kris Cruise: Equivalent Exchange!

Envi howls in pain as Gonsalves slowly cranks his arm away from him. The ref heads over and asks Envi if he wants to give up. When Envi refuses, Gonsalves applies even more pressure. The Chief can be heard howling in agony.

Geoff Penzer: Envi once again finds himself caught in another submission from the Submission Alchemist, Owen Gonsalves. Both of these grapplers are technically proficient. But even Envi would agree that Gonsalves has the advantage when it comes to submission holds.

Stephy Auger: He totally outclasses Envi. That’s what you’re saying, right?

Kris Cruise: Stephy, please…

Gonsalves continues to fight for the submission. Envi tries to hang on while pockets of the crowd try to rally behind him. The ref asks him again if he wants to give up. But Envi refuses by shaking his head from side to side. While Gonsalves still has the hold applied, Envi slowly takes one step forward, then another. He then slowly takes another step forward, then another. Envi begins to slowly makes his way towards the side of the ring while Gonsalves is still hanging onto him. Sensing that Envi is close to reaching out and grabbing the ropes with his free hand, Gonsalves takes his right arm and repeatedly elbows Envi in the side of the head. After releasing the bodyscissors, Gonsalves moves Envi back towards the center of the ring, doubles him over with three hard knee thrusts to the midsection and applies the double arm octopus stretch.

Stephy Auger: The what?

Geoff Penzer: … it’s a double arm octopus stretch.

Envi stands doubled over and howling in pain while Gonsalves is on his back with control of both arms. The ref kneels down and asks Envi if he wants to give up. But again, Envi refuses. So Gonsalves begins to slowly squeezes the arms closer together, causing Envi to howl in anguish.

Stephy Auger: Envi’s literally trapped with nowhere to go. Gonsalve sis all over his back with his arms wrapped around Envi’s! He should stop being stubborn and just give up.

Geoff Penzer: I don’t think it’s in Envi’s makeup to just give up, Stephy.

Envi continues to shake his head from side to side while remaining trapped in the hold, as well as in the middle of the ring. The ref checks with Envi and asks if he’d like to give up. Envi vehemently refuses. So Gonsalves releases the hold, only to bring Envi down to the mat and transition into an omoplata armbar.

Envi groans as Gonsalves begins to bend his wrist backwards while having him locked in the omoplata armbar.

Kris Cruise: Gonsalves has him in the Krukenberg now! Envi’s in all sorts of trouble now!

The Chief grits his teeth. He can be heard straining loudly as he tries his hardest not to give up. But the more Gonsalves continues to bend the wrist, the more tempted he is to tap out. The crowd gasps and cheers as Envi slowly raises his left hand off the mat. Gonsalves vehemently shakes his head as he yells at Envi to tap. The Chief continues to shake his head from side to side. He then quickly raises his hand up and goes to slam it down on the mat…

… but The Chief stops his hand about an inch away from the mat! He then raises the hand back up to the ref and wags his finger at him.

Geoff Penzer: The Chief isn’t throwing in the towel just yet!

Stephy Auger: Stupid, stupid, stupid...

Envi groans as he struggles to get back to to his feet. After battling back to a vertical base, Envi slowly slowly waddles over towards the side of the ring… reaches out… and grabs the middle rope, forcing a rope break.

Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…

Gonsalves breaks the hold. He then takes Envi’s arm and applies an hammerlock around the top rope. The ref again gives Gonsalves until the count of five to break the hold.

Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE…

Gonsalves breaks the hold. He then quickly hooks Envi’s right arm from behind. Envi goes to grab onto the top rope with his free arm. But Gonsalves is just a step quicker and hooks the left arm from behind. After dragging Envi back towards the center of the ring, the crowd cheers when Gonsalves delivers the Paroxysm (snap dragon suplex). Gonsalves turns Envi over and makes the cover.

Gonsalves picks up Envi, grabs him by the right arm and delivers an armbreaker across his shoulder, sending Envi staggering over into the corner. While The Chief is leaning against the turnbuckles, Gonsalves runs up from behind and connects with a running European Uppercut to the back of the neck. After turning Envi around and nailing him with another European Uppercut, Gonsalves whips him into the opposite corner. Gonsalves then runs across the ring, lunges towards the corner and goes for a jumping knee strike. But Envi rolls out of the way, causing Gonsalves’ knee to crash into the turnbuckles. After Gonsalves stumbles back, Envi turns him around, lifts up the left leg and brings Gonsalves down with a dragon screw leg whip. Env then lifts up Gonsalves’ left leg from off the ground before delivering a grounded dragon screw leg whip in the opposite direction. After The Chief returns to his feet, he holds up Gonsalves’ left leg before taking a look around at the crowd. Upon hearing the cheers, Envi goes to apply a figure four leg lock. After Envi turns around on the leg, Gonsalves reaches up, grabs Envi and pulls him down into a small package.

After both grapplers scramble back to a vertical base, Envi knocks Gonsalves down to a knee after a low angle dropkick. The Chief follows up with a Shining Axe Kick that knocks Gonsalves down. He makes the cover.

Kris Cruise: Envi only got a two count. But he’s regaining control of this contest after Gonsalves did his best to bend him in every which direction.

Envi brings Gonsalves back to his feet, applies a straightjacket choke from before before pulling him down into multiple kneeling backbreakers. The Chief then turns Gonsalves over onto his stomach before applying a stretch muffler. Envi uses his arms to force down Gonsalves’ shin and thigh, applying pressure to his knee. A closeup shot of Gonsalves reveals him to be cringing from the pain.

Kris Cruise: Now it’s Gonsalves that’s trapped in a submission. This isn't good, Stephy.

Stephy Auger: You think!?

The crowd cheers while Envi keeps the hold applied. The ref gets down and asks Gonsalves if he wants to give up. When Gonsalves refuses, Envi applies even more pressure, forcing Gonsalves to let out a labored groan. A “FIGHT, OWEN, FIGHT!” chant begins to break out throughout the crowd here in the Times Union Center. The Shootcamp member tries to feed off the energy of the crowd. But Envi begins to deliver several stomps across the back of the head before pressing his knee down across Gonsalves’ back. Gonsalves howls in pain while Envi’s got him all tied up. The ref asks Gonsalves if he wants to give up. But The Indestructible refuses. So Envi reluctantly lets go. But he doesn't let up. Instead, Envi grabs Gonsalves and grabs him over into the corner. After rolling to the outside, Envi pulls Gonsalves further into the corner before applying a figure four leg lock around the ring post! Gonsalves howls in agony while Envi hangs on tight. The ref heads to the outside and gives The Chief until the count of five to break the hold.

Envi breaks the hold. He then slides back in, picks up Gonsalves and places him in the Tree of Woe before bringing him down out of the corner with a reverse DDT. He makes the cover.

He then scoots himself back across the mat before turning over to make the cover.

Geoff Penzer: It was well-timed, I agree. But Gonsalves might have ended up hurting himself worse than Envi.

Gonsalves brings Envi back to his feet and nails him with a European Uppercut. After another European Uppercut, he takes Envi and whips him into the ropes. When Envi returns, Gonsalves scoops him up across his shoulders to set up a Death Valley Driver. Just before Gonsalves is about to drop Envi on his head, Envi nails Gonsalves with multiple elbow strikes to the side of the head. He then slips down from behind, grabs Gonsalves and goes for a belly to back suplex. Gonsalves is able to counter by rolling over Envi’s shoulder. But as soon as Gonsalves lands on his feet, his left knee buckles! While Gonsalves favors the knee, Envi turns and runs into the ropes. When he returns, Envi motions for a running forearm strike. But Gonsalves counters by bringing him down into the Crossface Oblivion Wing (arm trap crossface)!

Stephy Auger: YESSSSS!

The crowd cheers while Envi’s howls in pain. The ref asks Envi if he wants to give up. But The Chief refuses. Envi then begins to slowly pull himself from the middle of the ring over towards the left side of the ring. The crowd cheers as Envi continues to make progress. He reaches out, but he’s not quite there yet. Before Envi can continue pulling himself towards his leg, Gonsalves begins to repeatedly tug away on his neck, yanking the neck over towards his right. Envi can be heard groaning every time Gonsalves pull back on his neck.

Kris Cruise: Gonsalves is fighting like hell for that submission. But Envi won’t tap!

The ref asks Envi if he wants to give up. But once again, The Chief refuses. Instead of trying to pull himself towards his left, Envi begins to try and pull himself forward. The crowd cheers as The Chief slowly scratches and crawls his way towards forward towards the ropes. Gonsalves can be seen shaking his head in disbelief while he holds onto Envi for dear life. The Chief then reaches out… and grabs the bottom rope! The ref then gives Gonsalves until the count of five to break the hold.

Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FO-

Gonsalves lets go, drags Envi back towards the center of the ring and slowly pulls him up from behind. Gonsalves then rolls Envi out in front of him before throwing out the Darkest Lariat (wristlock short-arm lariat). But Envi ducks. When Gonsalves turns around, Envi connects with a Pop-up Elbow Strike! The Chief follows up with a superkick that knocks Gonsalves back. The Chief then connects with another superkick, which sends Gonsalves through the ropes and to the floor. While Gonsalves picks slowly picks himself up off the floor, Envi turns and runs into the far ropes. When he comes back, the crowd cheers as he leaps through the ropes and knocks down Gonsalves with a suicide European Uppercut!

Kris Cruise: Envi wipes out Gonsalves on the outside!

Envi picks up Gonsalves, brings him back to ringside, lifts him up onto his shoulders and then swings down hard, delivering an Alabama Slam across the edge of the apron! Gonsalves bounces off the apron before crumbling to the floor. The Chief then reaches down, pulls up Gonsalves and rolls him back inside before climbing up onto the apron and delivering a slingshot elbow drop to the back. He then turns Gonsalves over and makes the cover.

Geoff Penzer: Good ring awareness there from Gonsalves...

Envi picks up Gonsalves, moves him into the corner and lights up his chest with knife edge chops. After a hard European Uppercut, Envi lifts up Gonsalves and sits him down on the top turnbuckle. Envi then climbs up onto the middle ropes, grabs Gonsalves and goes to lift him up for a superplex. But Gonsalves blocks the move. So Envi tries to muscle him up for another superplex. But again, Gonsalves blocks the move. So The Chief lets go of Gonsalves and throws out a punch to the face. But Gonsalves blocks and counters with a European Uppercut. Envi throws out another punch. But again, Gonsalves blocks and counters with a European Uppercut of his own. He then nails Envi with another European Uppercut… and another… and another. Gonsalves then takes Envi by the neck with both hands and tosses him to his right, sending Envi over the top rope and tumbling down on the apron! Gonsalves then unhooks his legs before slipping down onto the apron. After picking up Envi, Gonsalves nails him with another European Uppercut. Envi comes back with a forearm strike. Gonsalves nails Envi with another European Uppercut. Envi then answers back with another forearm strike. Gonsalves motions for another European Uppercut when Envi cuts him off with another forearm strike! Envi then nails Gonsalves with another forearm strike… and another… and anot-NO! Gonsalves ducks, lifts Envi up across his shoulders and plants him on the apron with a Death Valley Driver! Envi’s limp body falls off the apron before hitting the floor.

Kris Cruise: Gonsalves with a Death Valley Driver right onto the hardest part of the ring! Did you hear that thud!?

Stephy Auger: It’s over, Penzie!

Once Gonsalves catches his wind, he rolls back inside and waits or Envi to get up. Once The Chief starts to pick himself up off the floor, Gonsalves massages his left knee before turning to run into the far ropes. When Gonsalves returns, the crowd cheers when he flips over the top rope and takes out Envi with a topé con hilo!

Stephy Auger: Gonsalves just flattened Envi!

Gonsalves picks up Envi and rolls him back inside. He then rolls back in, drags Envi away from the ropes and makes the cover.

After massaging his left knee, Gonsalves runs across the ring, leaps over towards the corner and nails Envi with a jumping knee strike with the right left. Gonsalves grabs Envi, pulls him from out of the corner and then throws him down with a Michinoku Driver!

The cheers continue as Gonsalves drags Envi from out of the corner before bringing him back to his feet. After doubling Envi over with a knee thrust to the midsection, Gonsalves hooks his arms to set up for the Final Gambit (double underhook piledriver). But Envi’s able to break free, counter with a standing double leg takedown and follows up with a jackknife pin.

The Chief quickly doubles him over with a boot to the midsection, lifts Gonsalves up and throws him down with a front suplex. After Gonsalves gets up on his knees, Envi throws out a Buzzsaw Kick. But Gonsalves ducks, leaps to his feet, quickly grabs Envi from behind and dumps him on his head with a Sleeper Suplex! After Envi rolls over onto his knees, the crowd cheers when Gonsalves rushes over and flattens him with the Soul-Stealing 7-Star Strike! He makes the cover.

Gonsalves pulls up Envi and stuns him with a European Uppercut before turning to run into the ropes. When Gonsalves returns, he throws out a lariat. But Envi ducks, hooks his arm, lifts him up and throws him down with a Uranage! While Gonsalves is sprawled out on the canvas, Envi turns and heads over into the corner. After scaling to the top turnbuckle, Envi flips back for The Classic. On the way down, Envi ends up crashing down hard across Gonsalves’ knees!

Geoff Penzer: Gonsalves got his knees up!

After bouncing off the knees, Envi turns over and curls up. A close up of The Chief reveals him to be cringing while he clutches his ribs. While Envi is still down, Gonsalves slowly turns over on all fours before returning to a vertical base. He limps over towards Envi, reaches down, hooks his arms from behind and delivers a deadlift bridging tiger suplex!

Stephy Auger: But how much does he have left? Gonsalves is throwing everything he’s got at Envi and Envi’s barely getting his shoulder up in time!

Gonsalves reaches over and slowly pulls Envi back up to his feet. After stunning him with another European Uppercut, Gonsalves turns and runs towards the ropes. Gonsalves throws out the Sky Uppercut (springboard corkscrew european uppercut). But Envi’s able to counter into The Backpack Attack (single knee lungblower flipped into a crossface), resulting in an explosion of cheers from the crowd! Gonsalves’ eyes widen with shock after quickly finding himself trapped in The Backpack Attack.

Stephy Auger: AH!

Kris Cruise: The Backpakc Attack!

Geoff Penzer: What a counter by Envi!

The ref gets down and asks Gonsalves if he wants to give up. When Gonsalves refuses, Envi pulls back on the hold. Gonsalves groans while he reaches out for the ropes. But he’s nowhere near then. Envi fights for the submission while repeatedly yelling at Gonsalves to tap. But Gonsalves won’t do it. So Envi begins to repeatedly yank back hard on the hold.

Geoff Penzer: Envi’s fighting for that submission! He wants it! He needs it! He needs that Frontier Lions Cup trophy!

Stephy Auger: But so does Gonsalves!

Kris Cruise: You can't say one person wants it more than the other. They both want it badly!

Gonsalves continues to try and fight for the submission while Gonsalves tries his best to hang on. The ref asks him if he wants to give up. But once again, Gonsalves refuses. He can be heard straining himself as he tries to pull himself across the ring. Envi does his best to pull back and apply even more pressure. It succeeds in slowly Gonsalves down. But only momentarily. The Indestructible continue to try and claw his way forward. The Chief shakes his head in disbelief as he sees Gonsalves making progress. The cheers get louder and louder the further Gonsalves crawls. This capacity crowd is trying to will Gonsalves to the ropes. Gonsalves goes out to reach for the ropes when Envi moves his leg over and repeatedly stomp on Gonsalves’ left hand! The Chief continues to stomp away on the hand while Gonsalves howls in pain! With the left hand now out of play for the time being, Gonsalves groans as he pulls himself forward a couple of more inches. He’s about to reach out with the right hand when Envi places his foot on the bottom rope and pushes off, sending both men rolling backwards on the canvas! Before Envi can cinch the hold back in, Gonsalves quickly slips out and transitions into the Crossface Oblivion Wing! Envi yelps while his right arm is once again trapped in the hold. Gonsalves fights for the submission while The Chief lays in anguish! The ref gets down and asks Envi if he wants to give up. But once again, Envi refuses. Envi slowly tries to battle his way out of the hold. After getting up on his knees, Envi slips his arm out, quickly gets to his feet and reverses into an Olympic Slam!

While both grapplers are down, the ref starts his count.

After both men return to their feet, Gonsalves connects with a European Uppercut. Envi comes back with a European Uppercut. Gonsalves connects with another European Uppercut. Envi comes back with another European Uppercut of his own. Gonsalves then delivers two European Uppercuts. Envi answers back with three European Uppercuts. Gonsalves then delivers four European Uppercuts. Envi motions for a European Uppercut when Gonsalves cuts him off with a flurry of forearm strikes that overpower Envi and bring him down to a knee! After delivering another European Uppercut, Gonsalves grabs Envi by the back of the head with both hands, pulls Envi’s head forward and cracks him with a knee strike to the face! While Envi is dazed, the crowd gasps & cheers when Gonsalves gives him the finger gun taunt. He then turns and runs into the ropes. When Gonsalves returns, Envi pops up to his feet and knocks him down with the Kapowski Kick! He makes the cover.

The crowd gasps, then cheers when Gonsalves gets his shoulder up.

Envi picks up Gonsalves and whips him into the ropes. When Gonsalves returns, Envi goes for a back body drop. But Gonsalves slips down from behind and grabs Envi. He goes for the Darkest Lariat when Envi ducks, grabs Gonsalves from behind and hits a German Suplex! Envi rolls over, pulls Gonsalves back to his feet and delivers a second German Suplex! Envi still doesn’t let go, though! The cheers continue as The Chief rolls over and pulls Gonsalves back to his feet. Envi goes for the third German when Gonsalves counters with a back elbow to the face. He then nails Envi with another back elbow… and another. While Envi still has his arms around his waist, Gonsalves runs forward into the ropes. But Envi is able to counter with an O’Connor Roll transitioned into a release German Suplex! After dragging Gonsalves into position, Envi steps out onto the apron. Upon hearing the surge of cheers from the crowd, Envi climbs each turnbuckle until he gets to the top. From there, he flips off and crashes down across Gonsalves’ back with the Helter Skelter (450 Splash)! After pushing Gonsalves over onto his back, Envi gets up, hops onto the apron over the top ropes and scales back up to the top turnbuckle. The Chief takes in the momentum before flipping up and crashing down hard across Gonsalves with a second Helter Skelter. He hooks the leg…

Envi heads over into the corner, climbs up onto the middle ropes and raises his arms in the air. The Chief is met with cheers and applause from the crowd. He then climbs down, heads into the other three corners and poses on the middle ropes. After shaking hands with one of the FGA Officials and posing for a picture with the Frontier Lions Cup trophy, Envi raises the Cup high above his head. The crowd explodes with cheers as Purple and yellow ticker tape begins to fall from the rafters. Envi continues to celebrate his win as the PPV fades to black...

Purple and yellow ticker tape litters the ring as Gonsalves finally comes to in the corner. With Envi long gone, “Can You Feel It?” has finally faded out. A disappointed Gonsalves sits in the corner with his head buried in his hands. The Indestructible takes his head out of his hands before shaking it in disappointment. After reaching up to grab the top ropes, Gonsalves slowly pulls himself up in the corner. He slowly makes his way out of the corner with his hands on his hips. Gonsalves puts his head down once he hears the standing ovation from the crowd. Out from the back comes his Shootcamp brethren, Ace Watson.

Watson climbs up onto the apron before stepping into the ring. A disappointed Gonsalves looks over at Watson. But Watson shakes his head. He can be seen mouthing “you have nothing to be ashamed of” before heading over and embracing Gonsalves with a hug. The crowd cheers when Watson takes Gonsalves’ by the wrist and raises his arm in the air. The cheers continue while Watson parades Gonsalves around the ring with Gonsalves’ arm held in the air. Suddenly, the cheers turn to shrieks and gasps when the Reapers in Pride, Joey Perello and Ryder McKnight, slide into the ring and bumrush Shootcamp from behind!

The crowd erupts with boos when McKnight grabs Watson, runs into the corner and slams him face-first into the top turnbuckle. He then grabs Watson and slams him face-first into the turnbuckle again… and again… and again! After the last one, Watson turns and staggers away from the corner before dropping down to his knees.

Meanwhile, Perello grabs Gonsalves and repeatedly rams him back-first into the corner. The VIP of RIP unleashes a ballistic combination of rights and lefts t the body that leave The Technical Spectacle doubled over. Perello reaches down, cups Gonsalves’ chin with his palm and slowly raises Gonsalves’ head… before clocking Gonsalves with a right cross that snaps his head to the side. The boos continue as Gonsalves crumbles from out of the corner. While Gonsalves is face down on the mat, Perello immediately begins to untie the middle and top turnbuckle pads. He eventually rips both off, exposing the steel turnbuckles.

Back across the ring, McKnight sends Watson slumping down in the corner with a flurry of snapping jabs to the face. He then applies a foot choke while pulling down on the top rope. Watson cringes while he helplessly kicks his legs. Over near the opposite corner, Perello pulls Gonsalves back up to his feet. He then lifts Gonsalves up onto his shoulders before delivering a Buckle Bomb into the exposed turnbuckles. Gonsalves howls in pain as he crumbles to the canvas. He then reaches down, drags Gonsalves to the center of the ring and brings him back to his feet. After hooking both arms, Perello jumps up and brings Gonsalves down with the YTE (Pedigree)! The boos continue as a motionless Gonsalves lays face down on the canvas.

McKnight grabs a hold of Watson and nails him with 10 consecutive heabutts before dropping him with a jumping cutter. He then picks up Watson, runs and tosses him through the ropes and to the floor. Perello then drags Gonsalves over into the corner. After picking Gonsalves up onto his knees, Perello pulls two pairs of handcuffs from out of his back pocket and cuffs Gonsalves’ wrists to the middle ropes. He then repeatedly slaps Gonsalves across the face to try and wake him up. As a groggy Gonsalves come to, Perello points to the outside before joining McKnight on the floor.

McKinights kicks over the steel steps. He then grabs the top half of the steps and walks down ringside while Perello walks past him and grabs the other half. A dazed Gonsalves looks over and sees both members of RIP standing on opposite sides of Watson with steel steps in hand. After Watson slowly picks himself up off the floor, Perello and and McKnight change towards him and…

*CLANG*

The crowd gasps a Watson collapses to the floor. The Reapers in Pride throw the steel steps down while various camera cuts show members of the crowd sitting or standing in stunned silence. Perello and McKnight scan the arena before making their way up the aisle. The silent arena is soon consumed with a surge of boos, hatred and ill will aimed directly at the two men. Medical personnel rushes past the Reapers on the way down the ramp to attend to both Watson and Gonsalves…
