#1 CONTENDERS MATCH
Savannah Taylor vs. Mark Storm
Short Change Hero by
The Heavy begins to play through the speakers and the lights in the arena simultaneously dim down. Smoke begins to rise from the top of the stage and appearing on the screen above are the following words;
YOUR HERO, AND MINE
A massive pop ensues as emerging from the back is the self proclaimed "Prince of CHAOS", Mark Storm; who keeps himself composed as he stands at the top of the entrance ramp. He can't help but allow his sadistic signature smirk to appear upon his lips as he closes his eyes and spreads his arms out wide, soaking in the energy that the audience are giving him as they applaud and cheer.
Melanie Sierra: From New York, Brooklyn.. weighing in a two hundred and twenty pounds -
Your Hero, and
Mine.. MARRKKKK STORMMMMMM!!!
He begins his walk down the entrance ramp, with a leather coat completing his attire as he comes down the entrance ramp.
This ain't no place for no hero.
This ain't no place for no better man.
This ain't no place for no hero
To call "home."
At this point, Storm is by the edge of the ring; allowing a smile to embed on his face before he jumps onto the apron and holds onto the ropes, using them to help himself up onto the turnbuckle. He's grinning from ear to ear, soaking in the rest of the cheers coming from the audience, shaking his head sideways as he lowers it, before jumping into the ring.
Taking off his leather coat, he hands it to the ring announcer before walking over to his designated corner and hoisting himself up onto the second ropes, a smirk upon his lips as he holds his arms up; his theme song slowly diminishing.
Geoff Penzer: Joining me at the commentator’s table for this upcoming bout, the newly crowned FGA Pride Champion, Chris Madison!
Chris Madison: Thanks Geoff. I’m just looking forward to seeing who’s going to earn themself the first crack at my Pride Championship.
Geoff Penzer: Mark Storm, Savannah Taylor, anyone in particular that you’re looking to emerge victorious tonight?
Chris Madison: On one hand I’m familiar with Mark Storm. I’ve wrestled him twice, and came out victorious on both occasions. But if I’m being completely honest, there’s a little unfinished business with Savannah Taylor that I haven’t forgotten about. Wasn’t too long that she and Izzy Anders got themselves disqualified in a tag match against Molly Reid and I by sandwiching my head between two steel chairs. Either way, my first title defense isn’t going to be a cakewalk.
Geoff Penzer: That’s for sure! Both of these competitors are hungry and talented, making a dangerous combination for any defending champion!
There was silence; the lights began to fade away slowly. A soft instrumental echoes out across the audience. It starts slowly, a beautiful sound that contrasts the heaviness of the world. Like feathers, it glides among the waiting audience. The lighting fixtures produce a gentle spotlight upon the stage, offset by the occasional flash here and there. As the song continues, a woman’s words begin to come through. Her voice is tender, not raising upon a whisper.
Deceived by my eyes and all I was told I should see
Opinions not mine, the person they taught me to be
One night in the dark, a vision of someone I knew
And in the darkness I saw, a voice say, I'm you.
On the stage, a feminine figure appears. Her head lowered to everything. People cannot make out who it is. As she stands there, the flashes briefly illuminate her figure. It only gives small clues on who stands at the gate. She stands in the spotlight, her shadow cast large and proudly among the stage.
Inside me a light was turned on…
The instrumental picks up again. An electric guitar now joins the progressively exciting instrumentals of before. The singer’s voice suddenly intensifies.
Then I was alive!
In the light, it is revealed that it was Savannah Taylor. She stands at the gate, a robe of obsidian and ivory hues. The hood of it shadows her eyes, but the intensity of the final EXODUS World Champion remains clear as day. She starts off down the ramp, with a serious aura radiating from her body.
Melanie Sierra: And his opponent, from Las Vegas, Nevada… SAAAAVANNAAAAH TAAAAAAYLORRRRR!!!
If you close your eyes your life,
A naked truth revealed
Dreams you never lived,
And scars never healed
Savannah makes her way up the ring steps. She looks out towards the audience for a moment before entering the ring. From there, she heads for a turnbuckle. She stands there, taking in everything. She then lifts her up on top of it. She peers out in nothing, then takes off the hood with a flashy flourish. Her blonde locks fly up in the air. They descend, shaping her face as they famously do.
In the darkness, light will take you to the other side
You'll find me waiting there you'll see, if you just close your eyes
While she stands in her corner, she closes her eyes and takes a heavy breath. When her bright eyes open, Taylor is completely composed. There is nothing more than the heat of battle awaiting her. She takes off her robe, giving it to a stagehand. She stretches her wrists before devoting her mind to the war upon the horizon.
Geoff Penzer: These two outlasted nine others earlier in the night, now the time has come for them to implant themself into the Pride Championship title picture.
Chris Madison: There were no pushovers earlier in the night. Anyone could have walked away from the battle royal, earning one of these two spots. No one is going to be able to question whether or not the winner of this match earned their way.
The bell sounds as both grapplers circle the ring before locking up. After jockeying for position, Taylor places Storm in a side headlock. The crowd boos as Taylor begins to cinch up the hold. But it doesn’t stay on for long as Storm shoves her off of him and into the ropes. When Taylor returns, Storm knocks her down with a standing shoulder block. He then runs into the ropes. When Storm returns, Taylor returns to her feet and leapfrogs over him. Storm then continues to run into the ropes. When he returns, Taylor turns around and leapfrogs over him again. Storm then continues to run into the ropes. When he returns, the crowd boos when Taylor knocks him down with a dropkick. As Storm tries to get back to his feet, Taylor throws out another dropkick. This time, Storm moves out of the way and swats her down. When Taylor returns to her feet, the crowd cheers when Storm returns her to the mat with a dropkick of his own. Taylor gets back up, but she’s met with another dropkick. Storm then picks up the rising Taylor and sends her back to the mat. This time, with a side headlock takedown.
Chris Madison: Mark Storm’s talent is immeasurable. He can wrestle with the best, scrap with the toughest, and soar with the fastest. He’s a tough out in any match, on any given night.
Geoff Penzer: Not shy in making your respect for Mark Storm known, are you?
Chris Madison: Not at all. I call it like I see it… Always have and always will.
The ref gets down and asks Taylor if she wants to give up, but Taylor refuses. She then reaches up, grabs Storm by the hair and pulls his head back. She then quickly lifts one of her legs up and reverses into a grounded headscissors. The ref asks Storm if he wants to give up. When Storm refuses, Taylor lifts her leg up before driving it down violently across Storm’s throat before locking the headscissors back on. The ref checks in with Storm again and asks him if he wants to give up. But Storm still refuses. He tries to escape with a kip up, but he doesn’t have any luck. After a few seconds, Storm tries for another kip up. But again, it’s to no avail. After shifting around on the canvas and turning over onto his knees, Storm presses down on Taylor’s legs, slowly slips out of the headscissors and follows up with a dropkick to the face. He makes the cover.

Storm picks up Taylor and whips her into the ropes. When Taylor returns, Storm sets up for a back body drop. But Taylor hurdles over him before running into the ropes. When Storm stands up and turns around, he gets tackled down by a Lou Thesz Press. The boos continue as Taylor mounts herself on top of Storm and fires away with several right hands to the face. She then picks up Storm, marches into the corner and slams him face-first into the top turnbuckle. After turning Storm around, Taylor unleashes a series of knife edge chops before stepping back and choking him with her foot. The ref gives Taylor until the count of five to break the choke.
Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…
Taylor willingly breaks the choke… before stepping back, choking Storm again with her foot and pulling down on the top rope. The crowd erupts with boos.
Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…
Taylor reluctantly lets go. She then takes Storm and whips him into the opposing turnbuckles. Taylor then runs across the ring to attack. But Storm ducks and dumps Taylor over the top rope. After landing on the apron, she nails Storm with a shoulder thrust through the ropes when he turns to face her. Taylor follows up with a sunset flip. But Storm rolls through it and quickly flips over into a jackknife pin.

After both grapplers return to their feet, Taylor grabs Storm and goes for an irish whip. But Storm reverses, sending Taylor into the ropes. When Taylor returns, Storm goes for a hip toss. But Taylor steps through it and goes for a hip toss of her own. But Storm blocks it. So she tries to muscle him up for another hip toss. But again, Storm blocks it. After a hard knee to the midsection doubles Storm over, Taylor drapes her leg across the back of Storm’s neck and performs a backflip. Once she lands on her feet, Storm knocks her down with a discus clothesline.
Geoff Penzer: Both competitors continues to go back and forth, finding counters for counters. That discus clothesline turned Savannah Taylor inside out!
Chris Madison: So much at stake for both Storm and Taylor, there’s no doubt in my mind we’ll be seeing them both competing on a whole new level.
The cheers continue as he drops down and makes the cover.

Chris Madison: This is what I’m talking about with Mark. A brutal discus clothesline, leaping up into a hurricanrana, and now a bridging deadlift German? It’s hard to game plan for someone who excels at all aspects of this business.
Geoff Penzer: That may be true, but right now Savannah Taylor continues to persevere and weather the storm!
Chris Madison: A little play on words, huh? Savannah is going to have to find a way to do more than survive. Mark has had an answer for everything she’s thrown his way thus far, that can become frustrating and mess with her psyche.
Storm picks up Taylor and nails her with four elbow strikes to the face before running towards the ropes. When Storm returns, he throws out another discus clothesline. But this time, Taylor ducks, grabs him from behind and brings him down with the Blonde Ambition (forward russian legsweep). The boos continue as she pulls Storm over and makes the cover.

Taylor picks up Storm, runs and tosses him through the ropes. After Storm lands on the apron, Taylor heads to the side of the ring before stepping out onto another part of the apron. Once Storm returns to his feet, Taylor springboards onto the top turnbuckle, dives off and connects with a missile dropkick to boos from the crowd. Taylor bounces off of Storm and lands back in the ring while Storm gets knocked off the apron and falls to the floor.
Geoff Penzer: A huge springboard missile dropkick from Savannah Taylor! Mark Storm just hit the arena floor hard!
Chris Madison: Let’s see if she can capitalize. So far Mark has been able to absorb her best offense and continuously turn things back into his favor...
As Storm slowly pulls himself up using the ropes, Taylor takes off into the far ropes. When she returns, she goes for a baseball slide. But Storm side steps before bringing her down with a sling blade out on the floor.
Chris Madison: ...and just like that, Mark Storm has found his way back into the driver’s seat.
Geoff Penzer: Savannah’s head viciously bounced off of those mats that surround the ring. Her head has got to be pounding.
Chris Madison: Yeah but that headache will dissipate if her hand gets raised after the closing bell rings.
Storm rolls himself back inside before pulling himself up using the ropes. Once he looks over and sees Taylor returning to her feet, Storm takes off into the ropes. When he returns, she leaps over the top rope with a somersault dive. But Taylor dives out of the way, causing Storm to crash onto the floor. The crowd boos while Storm writhes in pain.
Geoff Penzer: Crash and burn! Mark Storm took a huge risk and it didn’t pay off!
Chris Madison: Those high risk moves don’t always pay off. I’d hate to see Storm cost himself this match because he took one too many risks...
After Taylor picks herself back up, she looks over and sees Storm still writhing in pain out on the floor. So she rolls herself back inside and motions for the ref to keep counting.
Geoff Penzer: It looks like Savannah is perfectly content winning this match by countout.
Chris Madison: Let’s not just

When Taylor turns around, she’s shocked when she sees Storm rolling back into the ring.
Geoff Penzer: Mark Storm made it back into the ring just in the nick of time.
Chris Madison: Yeah, but while he fought to force himself back into this match, Savannah had a chance to recuperate.
Taylor returns to her feet, marches over and puts the boots to Storm. She continues to stomp away on Storm until she stomps him underneath the bottom rope and back out to the floor. The Las Vegas Siren then heads out onto the apron and waves Storm up. Once Storm picks himself back up, she nails him with a back kick to the face, knocking Storm back a few steps. She then quickly measures the distance between the two of them before connecting with an Asai Moonsault.
Geoff Penzer: And we’re seeing the results of exactly that Chris. Savannah just tried to stomp a hole into Mark’s chest and then flattened him with a graceful Asai Moonsault.
Chris Madison: She’s got to make sure she doesn’t lose her composure. Hopefully for her sake she learned her lesson keeps her foot on the pedal.
Taylor picks up Storm and rolls him back inside. She then rolls herself back in and makes the cover.

A panning shot of the MassMutual Center reveals the crowd cheering and applauding Storm. Back in the ring, the ref asks Storm if he wants to give up. But again, Storm refuses. Storm then slowly turns over onto his knees. After getting back to his feet, he nails Taylor with a pair of elbows to the midsection. Once he’s free, he takes off into the ropes. When Storm returns, the crowd boos when he gets flattened by a yakuza kick.

When Taylor turns around, she’s met with a series of right and left slaps, then a shoot kick to the thigh, then a spinning back fist, followed by a roaring lariat that knocks her down.
Chris Madison: Anyone with doubts about Savannah’s toughness, rewatch that exchange! Mark ended up with the upper hand but Savannah took some seriously blows and barely budged!
Geoff Penzer: Looks like your interest is peaking.

Geoff Penzer: This time it’s Savannah Taylor who crashes and burns after flying through the air.
Chris Madison: This late in the match, that could be killer. She didn’t just crash and burn; she had the air sucked out of her as those knees drove through her abdomen.

Madison removes his headset and places it down on the table. He rises to his feet and locks eyes with Savannah Taylor. Madison applauds as he rolls his right shoulder, sliding the championship belt that rested on it closer to the center of his chest.
