Pedro Gonzales sits in a chair, white background, a confessional.
"Teamwork. Noun. The combined action of a group of people, especially when effective and efficient."
A beat.
"Yes, I did just look this up on Google five seconds before we started recording. But this is important.
This word is at the heart of many social interactions. You see it in nature with the multitude of animals who live in groups. The lions have their prides, wolves have their packs, and birds often have their flocks. However, never is it more complex than it is in human society. We need other people for much more than taking care of offspring or filling up our stomachs. We need them for our own happiness and we need them to do some...work."
He raises his hand in the air as if to say 'what a concept, right?'.
"This is especially true in tag team wrestling. Yes, we tag in and out of the situation but the fact remains that you have to rely on your other half to strike when there's an opportunity you can't see. They have to be focused. They have to do everything in their power to get the job done.
Since the formation of Bueno Club, we have been so close to title belts twice and have failed spectacularly both times. If anything, we've been the complete opposite of effective or efficient. Now, I've taken my brunt of the weight. I have questioned myself over my flaws in judgement in those matches and have risen to every challenge afterwards. Malo..."
A sigh.
"Well, the results speak for themselves. Match after match, he fails and once upon a time, I would've made excuses for him because he's my friend. Because I care for him and I understand that sometimes, other things take priority. It's always so frustrating when that happens, both for the people who count on you and for your own self. You always feel like you're letting them down.
Yet I cannot make excuses for him anymore no matter how much I care. It has become a hindrance to me as an individual, us as a team, and 3GW as a whole. How can this division get anywhere when nobody's willing to fight the toddlers? How can we get anywhere if I'm the only one putting in the work?
I know everybody's going to say what about Peaches and Señor Herrera or Dom and Jae? They're temporary! These teams are only going to one match in the company. The truth is we're the corner stones of this whole thing.
The Gold Star Infants haven't done a damn thing to raise the profile of those titles since they've won them. They can't even raise their own as wrestlers, let alone as champions. It's sad that in a company where gold is supposed to matter, the only belt that gets anywhere close to that level is the 15 Minutes of Fame title. You can't even count the Paramount title as a thing because its holder is a complete chickenshit!"
Fingers run through his hair.
"For this reason, El Grandé Malo would have to redeem himself in a huge way. If he shows up at Center Stage willing to be my partner, there would be no choice in that circumstance.
But the burden doesn't get lessened with somebody else in his spot. My partner has to be somebody I can trust. They would have to have the same drive that I do, to be the best. Sometimes, it's difficult to find that. I don't endear myself to very many people. All the while, fans are coming up to me and the 3GW offices are leaving me voice mails asking 'Who is going to be in your corner, Pedro?'
And to be honest, half that time I have to restrain myself from asking 'Does it matter?'
I ask the question now because the Gold Star Connection are to blame for this. They are the reason why I've become what I am. They are the initial spark that started the flame. The kick to my skull from Señor Gold. That conversation as they watched on the monitor. Peaches and Dan, STRONGER COMPETITION! Jaelynn and anybody, STRONGER COMPETITION!"
Laughter.
"Stronger...than me?
I'm the biggest threat in 3GW. It's not because I'm the strongest or the smartest or the most flippty-doo. I am the biggest threat because nobody sees me coming. The blinders are on. Macy Dover was a wrecking ball that couldn't wreck me. Cindy got out-staged by a non-believer. Mercy Williams had to go for low blows so she didn't lose face. It's not like I'm being subtle about it. I literally screamed I WANT IT ALL!
And you still don't see me."
A smirk.
"I'll make you see, starting with taking those belts."
