FGA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
(c) Chandler Scott vs. Johnny Karma
The lights of the Matthews Arena flash in a myriad of different colours in time with John Bonham's quite remarkably epic drum intro for When The Levee Breaks that is filling the arena, and just as it reaches a crescendo...the tone suddenly shifts, and instead we hear Jimmy Page's quite remarkably epic guitar riff to Kashmir filling the arena, with the lights pulsing in sync to the driving riff until Johnny Karma walks out at the top of the ramp all by himself, his sunglasses hanging from the zip to his track jacket, as he walks to a prime piece of real estate at the top of the ramp as he surveys all that is before him for a moment, before he makes his way down the ramp
Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face, stars fill my dreams
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait, all will be revealed
Karma walks down the ramp, looking more focused than he has ever been in his F
WA tenure, knowing that his is not to reason why, his is but to do or die - and, quite frankly, tonight he's going to
doTalk and song from tongues of lilting grace, sounds caress my ears
But not a word I heard could I relay, the story was quite clear
J.A. Aldridge: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and is for the FGA World Championship! Introducing first, from New York City, New York! Weighing in at 233 pounds… JOHNNY KARMA!
Karma reaches ringside where he climbs the ring steps and makes his way onto the ring apron, where he stops and turns to face the crowd and slowly raises his right arm high into the air before he raises his index finger to let everyone know he's #1, before he unzips his track jacket and makes the gesture of a title around his waist before he steps through the ropes into the ring
Oh, oh...
Oh, oh...
Once he's standing inside his ring Karma climbs the nearest turnbuckles and, right on cue with John Paul Jones's mellotron, he stands on the middle turnbuckles with his arms held out wide, his head tilted back as he lets the music inspire him for what lies ahead
All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land
Tryin' to find....Tryin' to find where I've been.
Karma climbs down off the turnbuckles and removes his track jacket, placing it on the top rope - and for just a second, he looks like he's expecting his customary ring introduction from Cherry Baum, before remembering that she didn't join him for the match for obvious reasons
Kris Cruise: I don’t think we’re getting the customary Karma entrance tonight.
Stephy Auger: No we’re not. No more fun and games. it’s all business tonight. I don’t think we’ve ever seen Karma this serious and this determined before. That could very well spell bad news for the champion.
The sound of an organ plays throughout the arena, capturing the attention of all the fans in the crowd. They all turn their attention to the entrance way, preparing for the man that’s about to walk out. As "Perfect Strangers" by Deep Purple kicks in, the crowd begins to boo, jeer and heckle loudly. The camera dolly slowly rolls up towards the curtain. At around the 30 second mark, Chandler Scott pushes through the curtain as the crowd really begins to let him have it. Chandler looks over and can be seen mouthing at the camera while he points an accusatory finger at it. He then turns his attention towards the ring as he thrusts his arms in the air, resulting in another round of loud boos from the crowd.
J.A. Aldridge: And his opponent, from Hyannis, Massachusetts! Weighing in at 229 pounds! He is the reigning...defending… FGA World Champion… CHANDLER SCOTT!
Kris Cruise: This may be Chandler’s home state. But even that isn’t stopping certain sections of this crowd from booing the self-proclaimed DNA of FGA.
Stephy Auger: Tonight, Chandler Scott faces arguably his toughest test. But it isn’t from any of the Frontier Lions Cup qualifiers. It isn’t from the usual names you’d expect. Chandler Scott has put his money where his mouth is time and time again. But tonight, he may indeed be facing his toughest test. Chandler’s beaten a lot of names during his time in FGA. But one name that he has yet to beat is Johnny Karma. Whether Chandler wants to admit it or not, he’s never pinned Karma. He’s never made him submit and in the back of his mind, that fact has to eat away at him. It has to. Some say that tonight, the pressure is all on Karma. But you could make the case that the pressure is equally on Chandler’s shoulders. He has to defend that championship, in his home state, on Pay Per View, against a man that is determined to take that title from off his waist. This should be a good one, Kris!
Chandler keeps his index fingers in the air, letting everyone know who is truly "number one” around this joint. He keeps a smug look planted on his face as he swaggers down to the ring. After climbing up onto the apron, Chandler steps through the ropes, climbs up onto the second ropes and slowly raises his fists in the air as he absorbs the crowd's disdain for him. After stepping down to the canvas, he can be seen arguing with some fans in the front row.
The bell sounds as Chandler immediately gets in Karma’s face, reading him the riot act. But Karma doesn’t budge or even seen rattled by Chandler’s antics. He just smiles back at Chandler, letting him know that his usual tricks aren’t going to work in this one. Chandler steps back. The cocky smirk that was once on his face begins to fade… until it comes back again. He then motions for Karma to bring it. Karma gladly obliges. The two men then begin to circle the ring. After taking a step back, both grapplers head towards the center of the ring and lock up. After jockeying for position, Karma shoves Chandler down to the canvas. Chandler scoots back and looks up at Karma in shock. Chandler looks around before turning on his knees and getting back to his feet. The Champion begins to circle Karma before coming in for a lock up. After jockeying for position, Chandler moves Karma across the ring. But Karma puts on the breaks, switches positions with Chandler and presses him up against the ropes. This forces the ref to head over and give both men until the count of five to break the hold.
Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…
Both men slowly raises their arms, making a clean break. While Chandler’s still got his arms in the air, Karma playfully pats him on the side of the face, resulting in boos and a surprising number of cheers from the crowd.. Annoyed, Chandler quickly slaps Karma’s hand from off of him. Chandler then goes over to the ref and points at Karma. But the ref asks him what he wants him to do if he hasn’t done anything illegal.
Kris Cruise: This match has not gone the way Chandler Scott has wanted it to go. It’s still early. Anything can happen. But The World Champ isn’t off to a good start.
Stephy Auger: No he is not. He is used to intimidating opponents with his words. He's used to bullying his opponents. But not tonight.
Chandler circles the ring before inching over towards Karma. He tries to fake out Karma, but Karma doesn’t take the bait. Just then, Karma lunges forward, placing Chandler in a side headlock. But Chandler is able to reverse into a hammerlock from behind. After shifting around, Karma leans forward, reverses into a hammerlock of his own and quickly goes for Instant Karma. But Chandler slips out and pushes Karma away from him. Chandler can be seen slapping himself, trying to psyche himself up. Meanwhile, Karma circles the ring looking as cool and calm as ever. The two men then head towards the center of the ring and lock up once more. After jockeying for position, Chandler places Karma in a side headlock. Karma then shoves Chandler from off of him and into the ropes. When Chandler comes back, he knocks down Karma with a shoulder block. The Champion flexes a bit before running into the ropes. When he comes back, Karma turns over onto his stomach. So Chandler hops over him and heads into the far ropes. When Chandler comes back, Karma leap frogs over Chandler. Chandler then continues running into the ropes. When Chandler comes back, Karma throws him down with an arm drag. Chandler gets back up, but Karma sends him down with another arm drag. He then transitions into an armbar.
The ref asks Chandler if he wants to give up. But Chandler won’t quit. After battling his way to his feet, Chandler moves Karma into the ropes, where the ref is forced to start a five count.
Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…
As soon as Karma releases the hold, Chandler nails him with a punch to the midsection. He then brings Karma away from the ropes and applies a side headlock. Karma tries to shove Chandler off of him, but he can’t. After a continued struggle, Karma hits Chandler in the side and goes to shove him off. But again, Chandler won’t budge. Chandler then follows up with a side headlock takeover. The ref then kneels down, asking Karma if he wants to give up. But he refuses to quit. He then reaches up and reverses into a leg scissors headlock. Chandler tries to pull Karma’s legs from around his neck, but he can’t. After a continued struggle, Chandler tries for a kip up. But he can’t escape. Chandler goes for another kip up, but he experiences the same result. After shifting around on the canvas and turning onto his knees, Chandler begins to press down on Karma’s legs. Once he’s able to slip out of the leg scissors, Chandler dives over and applies another side headlock.
The ref goes over to Karma and asks if he wants to give up. But Karma, again, refuses to quit. After battling his way back up to his feet, he shoves Chandler off of him and into the ropes. When Chandler comes back, Karma knocks him down with a back elbow to the face. He quickly drops down and makes the cover.

After Chandler rolls up to his feet, Karma motions for Check Your Chiclets. But Chandler quickly drops to the mat and rolls to the outside to take a breather.
Kris Cruise: Once again, Chandler Scott backs down from Johnny Karma.
Stephy Auger: Karma’s been able to control the pace thus far. So Chandler’s looking to slam on the brakes and try to break up Karma’s momentum.
Chandler keeps his hands on his hips as he circles the ring. But while he’s not paying attention, Karma is running the ropes. When he comes back, he blindsides Chandler with This Is For The Front Row. After picking up Chandler and rolling him back into the ring, Karma rolls himself back in. But he doesn’t make the cover as Chandler has continued to roll from one side of the ring and out the other. But that doesn’t stop Karma, who runs and baseball slides to the outside. He then approaches Chandler from behind, but Chandler turns around and delivers a sucker punch, knocking him down. He then picks up Karma, slams him face-first onto the apron and shoves him back into the ring.
After rolling himself back into the ring, Chandler picks up Karma, heads into the corner and slams him face-first into the top turnbuckle. From there, Chandler lets out a series of knife edge chops. He then taunts Karma before delivering a slap to the face. Karma picks up Chandler, wrenches his arm and follows up with a knife edge chop… and another… and another. He then takes Chandler and knocks him down with a short-arm clothesline. Kris Cruise: That’s not good, Stephy, that’s not good!
Stephy Auger: No it is not. I don’t know if Chandler’s trying to get himself disqualified at this point or if he’s just that desperate.
The ref tells Chandler to put the turnbuckle pad. Chandler smirks as he waves the pad in front of the ref’s face. He then tosses the pad to the outside. He then goes to pick up Karma, brings him over near the corner and delivers a snap suplex into the exposed turnbuckle. He makes the cover.

Kris Cruise: That superplex took a lot of out Karma and now, Chandler’s trying to wear him down and hopefully pick up a submission.
Stephy Auger: karma’s got to fight through this. He’s got to fight through that pain. After everything he’s done, after how hard he’s trained, Karma’s got to overcome it and try to battle his way back into this match.
The ref checks in on Karma and sees if he wants to give up. But Karma wants to continue. He begins to slowly turn over onto his feet. After getting back to a vertical base, he nails Chandler with multiple elbows to the gut. While Chandler’s doubled over, Karma takes off into the ropes. Stephy Auger: This match should have been over after the first Roaring Hammer. But Karma just will not stay down!
Chandler rolls to the outside, marches over towards the timekeeper’s table and snatches up his World Championship belt to a mixture of cheers and boos.
Kris Cruise: Oh no, no, no...
Stephy Auger: Is he going to take off? He can’t just leave like that.
Kris Cruise: No, Stephy, I think he’s going to do something worse...
Chandler rolls back into the ring and clutches the belt in his arms as he waits impatiently to blast Karma in the face with it. But the referee rips the title from out of Chandler’s hands.
Kris Cruise: There you go!
Stephy Auger: If you want to beat Karma, beat him fair!
While the ref returns the belt to the timekeeper, Karma returns to his feet. When he turns around, Chandler runs over and kicks him between the legs, doubling him over to a chorus of boos. When the ref turns around, Chandler calls for Dazed, Confused and All Messed Up. He then sets up Karma for the piledriver. But before Chandler can lift him up, Karma delivers a standing double leg takedown, crosses Chandler’s legs and turns him into the Scott Lock.
Kris Cruise: Karma with the Sharpshooter! He’s got Chandler Scott in his own hold!
Chandler can be heard groaning in pain as Karma is applying his own submission hold to him. The ref gets down in front of Chandler and asks if he wants to quit. But Chandler shakes his head from side to side, refusing to quit.
Stephy Auger: How humiliating would this be for Chandler to lose his championship, in his own home state, to his own hold!?
Chandler begins to crawl across the apron while Karma keeps the hold applied. Chandler tries to reach out to the ropes… But Karma gets up, drags Chandler back towards the center of the ring and squats back down.
Kris Cruise: Karma isn’t letting him go anywhere!
Chandler covers his head with his arms as he can be heard screaming in agony. The ref asks Chandler if he wants to quit. But the champion will not give up. So he begins to pull himself towards the ropes. He reaches out… and grabs the bottom rope, forcing the ref to start a five count
Ref: ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR…

He then takes Chandler and whips him into the opposite corner. Karma charges across the ring and connects with another NYC Uppercut. Karma then Chandler and whips him back into the previous corner. Karma climbs to the middle ropes, grabs Chandler and delivers a belly to back superplex. He then gets back to his feet, steps through the ropes and marches along the turnbuckles. After scaling the turnbuckles, Karma leaps off from the top and connects with From The Stars Above.
Kris Cruise: He’s feeling it now, Stephy!
Stephy Auger: Karma’s back in control, just like he was at the beginning. And this could very well be the beginning of the end for the champion...
Karma gets up and heads into the corner, where he waits impatiently to kick Chandler’s head off. The World Champion slowly turns over onto his knees, looking worse for wear. Chandler tries to get up, but quickly drops down to one knee. After a bit of a struggle, Chandler finally stands up. In a dazed state, he turns around and nearly gets his head kicked off with Check Your Chiclets to boos from the crowd.
Karma picks up Chandler and sets him up for Dazed, Confused and All Messed Up. But Chandler quickly drops down to the canvas. So Karma reaches down and pulls Chandler back up. But Chandler quickly wraps his arms around Karma’s right leg. So Karma delivers a series of double ax handles to the back. Karma then tries to lift up Chandler for the piledriver but again, Chandler wraps his arms around Karma’s leg. So Karma lets go, only to deliver a series of quick knee strikes to the head. After Chandler falls to the canvas, Karma reaches down, lifts up Chandler and positions him for Dazed, Confused and All Messed Up. But at the last second, Chandler counters with a standing double leg takedown. He then wraps his arms around Karma’s legs before leaning back, catapulting Karma into the corner. As Karma stumbles from out of the corner, Chandler knocks him down from behind with the Texbook Dropkick. Chandler then picks up picks up Karma, grabs him by the head with both hands and tells him that’s over. He then motions for the Roaring Hammer. But before Chandler can turn around, Karma latches onto his back and applies Deep Karma.
Kris Cruise: There it is!
Stephy Auger: He’s got the submission applied!
Chandler can be seen panicking as Karma has the crossface chickenwing applied. He’s trying to pull Chandler down to the canvas so he can apply the bodyscissors. But Chandler’s doing his best to fight it off. Chandler tries to reach out to the ropes. But he’s nowhere near them. As the ref goes over and asks Chandler if he wants to give up, Chandler tries to reach out and grab the ref’s shirt. But the ref wisely takes a few steps back.
Kris Cruise: Chandler’s got nowhere to go! He’s got nothing to grab onto!
Karma cinches in the hold, causing Chandler to groan through gritted teeth as the crowd is at a fevered pitch. He then leans forward, lifting Karma onto his back. It’s there that Karma locks on the body scissors.
Kris Cruise: Karma’s could be seconds away from behind crowned the new FGA World Champion! How much longer can Chandler hold on for!?
The ref asks Chandler if he wants to give up. But again, Chandler refuses to quit. He then runs backwards, ramming Karma back-first into the exposed middle turnbuckle. Once the hold is broken, both men stumble from out of the corner. Chandler’s the first to make a move as he takes off into the ropes. When Chandler comes back, Karma stuns him with Check Your Chiclets. While Chandler's seemingly out on his feet, Karma takes off into the ropes, possibly looking for another NYC Uppercut. But when Karma comes back, Chandler brings him down with a spinning sitout sleeper slam. He then picks up Karma, brings him into the corner and sits him down across the top turnbuckle. After grabbing a hold of Karma, Chandler takes a few steps back before planting him with the Mass Spike. Chandler then picks up Karma, brings him up to his feet and away from the ropes. After hooking the arm, Chandler lifts up Karma and plants him with another DNA Driver. He makes the cover.

“Perfect Strangers” blares throughout the arena as a mixture of cheers and boos can be heard throughout the crowd.
J.A. Aldridge: Here is your winner and STILL the FGA World Champion, Chandler Scott!
Chandler snatches the belt from the senior official and immediately clutches it. he then drops down to his back and rolls to the outside. An exhausted Chandler staggers around ringside before making his way up the aisle.
Kris Cruise: Chandler retains his championship in front of his home state. But this was by no means easy.
Stephy Auger: No it wasn’t. Chandler’s been pushed by Jimmy Page. He’s been pushed by Cordelia Stevenson. Chandler’s been given a hell of a fight by some of the best. Maybe I’m overreacting here, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen someone push him like Johnny Karma dd tonight. Chandler looked rattled from the early going of this match when his usual tactics did not work. Karma outwrestled him early, which did nothing but further frustrate the champion. Karma continued to control the match. Chandler was able to cut him off at points and rallied back. But when Chandler wasn’t able to put Karma away, he got desperate. You saw him expose the turnbuckle. You saw the low blow. He even tried to bring the championship belt into this. In the end, it took not one, not two, not three but four of Chandler’s finishing maneuvers to finally put Karma to bed. Chandler will sleep tonight with his World Championship. But it will only be because he barely escaped by the skin of his teeth. Karma was 100% correct. There was nothing separating the two of them outside of Chandler holding that championship. If these two ever faced off again with the title on the line, it wouldn’t be surprise me if Karma’s the one that takes it from him.
