Kaede Tree

Nest is seen in his favorite tree, leaning against the trunk and hanging his arms off of the branches.
With almost a confused look on his face, the Apex Champion ponders and his eyes drift off into the distance. “It’s ironic that I sit in this Kaede tree. Kaede meaning maple in Japanese. You would think a spitfire with so much talent and potential would have made minced meat of mere trainees here at the Lion’s Den. The Jiu Jitsu knowledge alone puts you on a level above a lot of competitors here. Truth be told, I was further discouraged from thinking I could grow here once I saw you at the training facility for the first time.”
Nest grins.
“I was impressed by what you could do. It wasn’t just physical domination that I saw in you. You also had the ability to understand me early on. While everyone in LDFC tries to figure me out and get inside of my head, you always seemed to know what was going on. Whether it was because you felt you could relate to me or not I’m not so sure. Both of us have a strong disinterest in the politics of pro-wrestling.” Nest begins to stroke his beard. “Not only did I believe we were both focused on absorbing the knowledge, I also thought AKIRA Kaede would always be the one that would make my time here most difficult...Or so I thought.”
Still stroking, the Apex Champion looks ahead. “Lately, you’ve been doing everything in your power to prove me otherwise. When I first won the Apex title, I was naive to think that you would congratulate me. But not only did you display your envy, you insulted me. Calling me a bullshit artist because this Apex championship hasn’t changed me. Six months ago I was a nobody with a nothing future. Now that I have a lot of eyes me, I’m not going to change the script. I don’t know how long this wave is going to last. As evident in this business, you’re here today and gone tomorrow. I don’t know what my shelf-life is for wrestling so I’m not going to act as if all of my ducks are suddenly in a row.”
“Don’t worry about me defecting to the Make-A-Wish roster. Worry about pissing me off to the fact where all of that respect I always had for you goes right out the window.” Nest smiles. “I see complaints about your position here in the LDFC as if you’re being held down. Under all the guise of you being a better fighter, no one is allowed to take advantages of the opportunities given to them. You’ve been given ample amount of chances to be where I am and rule the Lion’s Den. But instead you’re becoming stagnant, bitter and withered just like this Kaede tree I sit on and can topple if I so choose.”
Nest chuckles, snapping off one of the mini branches. “Keep proving me wrong AKIRA. I want to believe that you’re everything and more when it comes to a competitor. You have impressive victories, but what you lack is consistency. You don’t bring it week in and week out. There’s always excuses when you fall short. That’s where the difference between us lie aside from the fact you have a strange arousal for fighting. I take on all challengers; and even if they don’t necessarily deserve to be in the ring with the Apex Champion, anyone deserves to face Nest, because I am nobody...and so are you.”
