In the all too familiar tree, Nest leans against the trunk on his favorite branch...
….Holding a selfie stick.
“Well this is exciting…” Nest grins as he strokes his beard for the camera and snaps a selfie. “See MacRear? I just took a selfie and I’m about as technologically sound as an 80 year old war veteran. Anyone can do it, Mrs. Sultan.”
Nest chuckles as he observes the stick, covered in glitter and fur similar to the one Prince MacRear carries. “Never used one of these things before, but I don’t see how taking pictures of yourself makes you special in any kind of way. When it comes to the Apex Championship, my fists won’t be subjective to attractive femboys, and neither will my feet. If you spent more time getting better instead of in front of a camera, you wouldn’t be in this situation.”
Nest snaps the selfie stick in half, almost impressed with his own strength. He sits the two pieces on his lap, placing the phone is his pocket. “You’re aware of the very situation I’m talking about. You’re so much better than everyone...Yet you’re here in the first place. Here, when you had your chances to train under the best at Hard Knox, a developmental territory at the time. Your bitterness shouldn’t be because everyone took you for a joke. You never took it seriously and now you’re dipping into the small pond because the big fish are overlooking you...now the small ones are eluding you.”
Nest laughs.
“Our insecurities are alike MacRear. However I’ve learned to be more open. I go to the coaches and ask them how to improve every week. I don’t cry and put on a show for social media just to attract attention. You’re falling into those same habits of losing focus on what’s important. You want the world to see what you’re doing and you want to point fingers whenever you come up short.” Nest tosses the pieces of the selfie stick off into the dirt. He starts to rock back and forth. “Well the world’s going to see you fall once again when you step inside my nest. In MY dwelling, that is the Lion’s Den Fighting Championships. I may not be the prettiest man in the world and that’s quite ok. I’m quite fine with being me, but are you ok with being you?”
Nest grins as he slightly tilts his head
“It’s a question you must ask yourself on a daily basis since you’re so obsessed with your appearance. Constantly looking in the mirror desperately dolling yourself up in hopes that the world can at least see you as a beautiful human being...even if you don’t.” Nest’s grin turns into a frown as he looks down. “I’ve learned a long time ago that my looks wouldn’t get me to the dance, literally. I was only at prom because my band was performing. I don’t care about being in the spotlight, I just care about being the very best that I can be. If that means defeating you twice in one match, then I’ll work my MacRear off to make it happen.” Nest grins. “Your looks don’t hide your ugliness, Princess. You’re going into this trying to slither out. Pound for pound I’ve proven you’re inferiority, but now you have a gameplan. Just know I have one of my own. I know how desperate you are. You just don’t know what I’ll do to stay champion.”
Nest menacingly looks down at the dirt. “But Nest Assured you will find out.”
