“I’m guessing there are some… a few… alright, maybe three people that watch Lion’s Den that have been curious to my whereabouts”
The camera cuts in from black to reveal the ‘Five-Foot Colossus’ AKIRA Kaede seated on a bench directly in front of us. She's currently taking a breather between workouts. Face flushed and red underneath the sweat beading down her visage, clad in a dry-fit longsleeve shirt and a pair of loose white VENUM shorts, she’s the very image of a gym rat…
… albeit one that appeared to be in a bad mood.
“I wasn’t around for New Generation and I didn’t get the opportunity to wrestle for the Apex championship. I wasn’t on any preliminary card, nor was there any excuse given for why I wasn’t. So why? Why is it that I was basically erased from LDFC cards for a month? Was I not good enough? Did I piss off somebody in management?”
A long sigh escapes her lips, a hand smoothing her bangs from her face, her anxiety over speaking on camera battling against her usual non-descript expression for dominance.
“The answer to it all is simple: I was injured. Not during my last match - my first loss - but rather… fuck, it was my own doing”
She raises her fist to show it’s taped up tightly.
“I got back to the locker room, pissed that I lost a match despite not being the one beaten, and I took it out on the room itself, culminating in broken knuckles when my fist happened to connect with a brick wall that happened to get in my way”
The words come out flat, automatically, as though she’s blown through the line in an effort to keep from embarrassing herself on-screen.
“So I got to sit on the sidelines watching people I know I can beat go after the top prize… because I blew my top… and I actually stated to myself that when I got back in the ring I wouldn’t lose it like that again. It seems like somebody in management wants to put that to the test, because now that I’m back? I see this…”
She reaches off-screen and brings back a print-out of the LDFC Pride, Season 2, Episode 1 card. Circled at the top is the match she’s in.
AKIRA, Brody, Butcher… Terrence…
“... a four way match. Another multi-person clusterfuck like the last one I lost. Just to up the stakes this time too it’s in a main event and it’s for the number one contenders spot for the Apex Title. Oh, and goody, Terrence Tillman again”
Another sigh, this time sounding a little more ragged, edgier.
“I’ve cursed about this privately, blown through the lines, nothing important to anyone but me. So… I guess there’s nothing left for me to say except for my intent. Butcher and Terrence… the last time you were in a ring with me you learned that I am not kidding when I say I’m gonna beat the hell out of you, and the fact that Tillman took that win from me means nothing good is coming his way. I mean it, I’m looking to break your jaw you loud-mouthed idiot”
She pauses a moment, her voice wavering with anger.
“... as for Brody - the one I haven't faced - here’s the one warning you get, I want my own personal ship righted, and I want to get back to winning, because I’m better than I’ve ever been given credit for, pro-wrestling is all I’ve got these days...”
A nod.
“... and so, I aim to own it”
