Things Have Changed
Location: The Mind of a Psychopath
OFF CAMERA
Mirage: "Oh, Daniel, my good friend. Are you still here, lurking inside the mind of a psychopath? Have you been witnessing all that I've created since our last conversation? Do answer me, Daniel. We've not spoken in months. I rather miss your calming voice."
Danny Diamond: "What do you want, Mirage? Can I not enjoy my descent into madness alone?"
Mirage: "What good is the gigantic plunge off of the cliffs of sanity when you've got no one to share it with, Daniel?"
Danny Diamond: "Please, leave me alone."
Mirage: "But I've got much to discuss! From winning the FGA Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship to the formation of my own religion and much more!"
Danny Diamond: "I know what you've done, Mirage. In case you've forgotten, we share this body. While I can't control it, I can still see, hear and, most importantly, feel everything that you do."
Mirage: "Of course, of course. But I haven't gotten your opinion on any of it. I mean, not to toot my own horn, but I feel like I've really accomplished something here."
Danny Diamond: "And what would that be? Tearing away the souls of three more innocent people by playing the role of God?"
Mirage: "Ironic, isn't it? Considering your whole life you've spent trying to convince others that you're God. But this isn't arrogance, Daniel. These three, Jenna, Marcus and Joseph ... they genuinely believe in me."
Danny Diamond: "It's pretty hard not to fall for your lies. I've done it before."
Mirage: "Hmm? Lies, you say? What lies would those be? I've not promised any of them a single thing other than that they're getting. I didn't come to them offering salvation or eternal life. They came to me, needing a savior. So I saved them."
Danny Diamond: "Who are you trying to convince with the bullshit you're spewing? Me or you?"
Mirage: "It's not about convincing anyone, Daniel. They trust me, much-like you used to. I'm simply giving them an alternate road to drive on. Let's think about this for a second. First, there's Jenna. Nobody knew who this girl was before I took her under my wing. Now, she's a former XWA World Heavyweight Champion. She's known because of me. Bloody Mary; the true fire of the Church. Then there's Marcus, a man you know so very well. A legend of both RIW and 2WWF, look at what Marcus has become. He's dissolved into nothing. I give him a mask and a new name and suddenly the world has a true nightmare never to wake up from. Finally ... Joseph."
Danny Diamond: "You're not doing a damn thing for Joey other than poisoning his mind. Abaddon? That's not the Joey Miles I know. Just like Nightmare isn't the Mark Storey I know. You're playing with the lives of real people, Mirage. Don't you get that? This isn't a game to them. They're putting their full faith in you just so you can poison their minds and turn them into something they're not. You've already ruined my whole existence. Danny Diamond, the once great champion, is nothing anymore, because of you. Why do you need to do the same thing to these people?"
Mirage: "I did what I had to do with you, Daniel. You know that. I am only able to exist today because you don't. And, let's be honest, the world doesn't need a Danny Diamond. You're worthless in the big picture, just another cocky, brash, egotistical talent. We have plenty of them. I mean, your skills are impeccable. You truly are one of the best wrestlers to ever exist. But where does that get you without my mind?"
Danny Diamond: "It got me twelve championships between three companies."
Mirage: "Yes, but where does that matter in the bigger picture? You can have countless accolades, the respect of millions, all of the money and fame in the world, but there are plenty of people who have that. How many people can truthfully say they've changed the lives of other living, breathing human beings for the better? How many people can say they've saved someone else from their own damnation?"
Danny Diamond: "But you're not saving anybody from anything. You're feeding them this nonsense about how the world is a bad place and how sanity doesn't exist. You're ruining their lives by bringing them down to your pathetic level."
Mirage: "You just don't get it, Daniel. And, as much as it hurts me to say this, you never will. I'm going to save these three individuals from lives of worthlessness, just as I failed to do for you. And anyone else who has the courage to be saved will be. Now, Daniel, if you don't mind, I've got some business to take care of. We'll be speaking again soon. Until then, goodbye."
Danny Diamond: "Yeah, goodbye and go fuck yourself."
Mirage: "Heh ... Enjoy the darkness."
A Stepping Stone To What's Mine
Location: Unknown
ON CAMERA
The setting is very familiar. A single light sways back and forth from the ceiling, flickering consistently, as the whistling of a man is heard. The last time this setting was felt was at 2015: A New Odyssey, where the audience witnessed the return of Mirage. The camera pans down to reveal the man behind the whistling, once again, Abaddon, the former Joey Miles. Standing behind him are his fellow Church of Illusionism members Bloody Mary and the masked Nightmare. Abaddon steps back to his new family and stops whistling.
"Heh ... heheheh ... heheheheheh."
Mirage steps out in front of the camera, dressed in a cheap black suit and his signature ripped mask, whilst holding the Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship over his shoulder.
Mirage: "Tonight, nine lost souls will battle for a prize that isn't theirs to battle for. This ..."
The masked man lifts the Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship up towards the camera. After letting the camera get a good view of it, he drapes it back over his shoulder and continues talking.
Mirage: "This is the Mid-Atlantic Legacy Championship and it - is - mine. Contrary to what the higher ups in FGA might have you believe, I've never lost this championship. I was not and am not injured. They lied to you, all to protect their little company from the apocalypse that's coming its way. They think they can get away with erasing my name from their history books, but they are sadly mistaken. I'll have my eyes on that battle royal and, more specifically, the winner. The person who wins tonight will indeed go in the records as a champion, but they'll know, deep down, they are nothing until they defeat me. So, I'm issuing a little warning to every competitor in that battle royal. Unless you wish to end up like Mr. Holiday, you'll boycott that match, because if that match goes on as planned, I'm coming after the winner and we've all seen what happens when one person in particular catches my eye."
Mirage lets out a slight chuckle, as he looks up at the swaying light bulb. He speaks some more, not taking his eyes off of the light as he does so.
Mirage: "And then there's Evangelista."
He looks back down at the camera.
Mirage: "There's not much to you, is there? A talented girl from England who has wrestled the world over and gained the respect of many. Pretty typical story, to be honest. I've dealt with people like you before and I'm sure I'll deal with more like you again. I don't mean to be disrespectful, and this is nothing personal, but tonight ... well, you're simply going to be a tool for me to vent a little frustration and, perhaps, send a message. I know of your injuries and your brief retirement. You'd be a fool to think I won't use that in our match. If you end up on the injured list again, I do apologize. Like I said, this is nothing personal. We're going to fight and I'm going to win. It's as simple as that."
Mirage looks back at the members of his religion. He turns back to the camera.
Mirage: "Oh and don't worry about them. They won't be interfering in this, or any, match I have in FGA. Their existence in FGA is not to wrestle, it's to assist me in spreading my message. You all know the message by now, I trust. Of course, it falls on deaf ears for some. Those foolish, foolish people are the exact reason my message must be heard. But I'm not going to ramble on and on about that. Not now, at least. I've got more important matters to attend to tonight. My warning is already out there. To those of you in the battle royal, I do hope you listen to my words. Evangelista, good luck. I know you're very capable of handling yourself in the ring, but tonight is not about you. Just be ready, because I guarantee, ready or not, I'm going to break you for the simple reason being that I can. Let us bathe in each other's blood tonight."
Mirage looks back at the members of the Church of Illusionism again and nods at them. "In Mirage we trust," they say, in unison. The "former" Mid-Atlantic Legacy Champion walks off, as Abaddon steps back in front again, beginning to whistle once more. With the eerie sounds of Abaddon's whistling filling the ears of everyone watching, the camera looks back up at the flickering light and the scene comes to an end.
