*Off-Camera*
We see a guy sitting on a bed in a hotel wearing a grey Affliction t-shirt, blue jeans, and a backwards baseball cap. He's in the midst of a phone call as he has an iPhone to his ear.
Man (into the phone): That's right. I walked right up to her and let her have it.
He snickers to himself.
Man: Well now, I did warn her that my jungle fever was acting up. She should've been more prepared.
There's a knock on the door.
Man: I think Matt's back with the food.
(pause)
Yeah, he starts this boot camp on Monday. Poor kid could use all the help he can get if he's going to make a name for himself in FGA.
(pause)
Well I figured he and I could work on his promo while we're out here.
Another knock at the door - this time louder and harder.
Man: Some douchey guy named Joshua Black.
(another pause)
Exactly. Anyways, let me go. I'll hit you up later.
The man who we now know to be Matt Summer's friend, Joey hangs up the phone and walks over to a video camera set up on a tripod. He looks it over for a minute before walking to the door. He opens it up and Matt slams a bag in his chest.
Matt: Don't blame me if your fries are cold, dude.
Joey laughs and we're out.
----
Fade in to Matt Summers standing in front of a window with the blinds pulled down. He's wearing a blue t-shirt with an old school Denver Broncos logo on it and his hair is covering his ears. Looking right into the camera, he begins to speak.
Matt Summers: I made a promise to myself and to all of my fans when I got into this sport. That promise was to never let them down and to always act in an honorable manner, no matter how much my opponents pushed me. I’ve always followed through on that promise and every other promise I’ve made afterwards.
Just ask Corey King. I told him he would "go to hell" and that was the exact result back on November Twenty-Eighth in Charleston, South Carolina. Or look back at what I did to Isiah Nazareth on October Seventeenth in Ashland, Ohio.
Joey (off-camera): Or when I got you that match over in England and you lost to me.
Matt Summers (hesitation in his voice): Umm…better yet, let's just forget about the past and look to the future. Isn't that _really_ what matters in this sport after all.
Summers brushes his his hair back before continuing to speak.
Matt Summers: January Eighteenth…Pittsburgh, PA…Battleground One Point Two. Frontier Grappling Arts has chosen Joshua Black as MY debut opponent. And quite the opponent he will be. After all.. he _does_ have his victory over Dandy Holiday to stand upon. Of course we all know you gained that victory, along with probably your assortment of others, thanks to your lovely lady, Heather. You know, Josh…for a man who despises garbage wrestling and touts a platform of purity, you sure do enjoy hanging out with trash.
Joey (off-camera): ZING! Good one Matt.
Matt flashes a bit of a smirk.
Matt Summers: Now, you may have called Dandy Holiday a stepping stone and defeated him in front of the fans in New York at Final Frontier but when FGA went live to TV, I made sure I was tuning in to Battleground one Point One from my home in Denver, Colorado.
Brush of the hair again.
Matt Summers: And do you know what I saw there? Miss Camellia D. Magna showing you up. And that's probably stinging a bit to someone like yourself. Isn't it, Josh? Not because she's a girl… but because she outplayed you. She had the cunning that _you_ lacked on that given night.
Of course the one thing you can _not_ deny is you two put on a pretty solid contest. I know it. The fans know it. And deep down you know it too. Wrestling against quality opponents is _all_ you ever wanted since entering this sport. Just like me. And like I said previously, you and I _can_ give the fans just as good of a showing.
A look right into the camera as if he's staring Joshua Black right in the eye.
Matt Summers: Just think of it, Josh.
Your greatness versus my heart.
Your experience versus my IN-experience.
It's too good to fail.
So why don't you do us all a favor. If not for the paying fans in Pittsburgh and the ones watching at home on Spike TV, at least do it for yourself. Come January Eighteenth…why don't you leave Heather in the back and _truly_ showcase some of that greatness you've been spouting off at the mouth about since you walked into FGA.
Prove to me during _my_ debut that you're not a one trick pony.
Better yet…prove it to yourself.
I dare you.
Smirk…and fade out.
