From a black screen we hear a rustling noise before a shaft of light enters the frame and we now see someone has removed the lens cap from a video camera. A young man moves away from the camera and stands in front of a grey concrete wall. He is wearing a Chris Bond signature "FGA Proud" t-shirt with blue jeans. His brown hair hangs over the tops of his ears and he brushes it back with his hand as he begins to speak.
Man: Hey FGA fans…I'm Matt Summers…and well I wanna be your next champion.
A burst of laughter is hear from off-screen.
Off-camera voice: Dude. That sounds SO lame. This isn't eHarmony. It's a friction' wrestling company. Now, find your balls and start again.
Matt Summers lowers his head for a moment, feeling a bit defeated. A moment passes and he raises it up and looks into the camera.
Matt: Alright then. Let's do this.
Another brush of the hair and Matt begins to speak once more.
Matt: FGA…it's been quite a few days since I signed my deal to work with you and I have to say I'm nothing but stoked to be on the same roster with some of the best up and comers in this business. Guys like Sean Sands and Ryan Kidd…
He pulls at his shirt.
And Chris Bond of course.
But this isn’t about me being some super mark who is doing this to be around his favorite wrestlers. Oh no no no, I’m here for the same reason every other person who signs an FGA contract wants to achieve– to be the next big thing. To be Mr. FGA. To be the man who's name is at the top of the ladder with FGA Champion right next to it.
Of course like the band AC/DC likes to say -- it's a long way to the top…
Off-Camera voice: If you wanna rock n rollllll.
Matt: Shut up, Joey.
Joey: Sorry, Matt. We'll cut that part out.
Matt: Cool. So what was I saying? (pause) Oh yeah…plenty of great talent on the FGA roster but there's also quite a few I could do without.
Like Joshua Black.
On paper, Josh and I are probably very similar - both fairly new to the professional scene and both with a respect for this business. Except I, unlike him, respect ALL facets of it and not just the ones that I personify. Josh, you can proclaim your disgust for extreme garbage wrestling and spotfests but you know as much as I do that the fans want to see a good show. And sometimes a two minute resthold isn't going to keep the butts in the seats.
Then there's Jack Reynolds.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my life, it’s to stay away from satanic weirdos. I mean, I was intrigued whenever I watched The Church of The Beyond appear on an FGA DVD but that’s about as close to that kind I want to get. Unfortunately, they're gone while guys like Jack and The Murder remain.
God only knows what crap goes on in the locker room with those guys around. That shit scares the hell out of me but when it comes to competition against any of them, Matt Summers knows how to put fear aside and get the job done in order to get through a match.
Finally I want to say I think it's great that FGA has females on their roster, not to mention giving them the opportunity to compete alongside the men. I'm sure plenty of them are used to be the object of desire for every man on the roster but for me, the only desire I have is to get through all the competition and walk out as as the next big thing.
Now, I'm not necessarily one to lay a hand on a female but when I step in the ring and ladies like Willow Swaine or Jaxie Wyatt are across the ring from me, a man has to do whatever he can to move on in this world. And in the end, they're all going to be in so much pain that they'll think they had just given birth and they performed a CAESAREAN on them.
Joey (off-camera): WHAT?!?
Matt: Too much?
Joey (off-camera): You think?
Matt: Fine fine. Let's cut that part out as well.
Matt Summers pauses to collect his thoughts before starting up for a third time.
Matt: I don't wanna spend a lot of time talking about the other people on the roster. That stuff can be saved for when I actually have my first match.
(pause)
Well, actually there ARE two more people I’ve got a few words for and I promise to make them quick.
Jimmy Page – I watched Final Frontier…I saw how you wrestled your way to being the new FGA Pride Champion. In somewhat dubious fashion, I might say. But very soon, that's all going to change. You and I are under the same roof now and it’s only a matter of time before it all comes to down to you and me to see who truly IS the pride of FGA.
Chris Q – You represent everything that is wrong with this sport. The trials and tribulations of the road show on your face every time you grace my TV screen. And now, you call yourself the FGA champion. For shame. Sean Sands…HE was a champion this company could be proud of. And one day, you and he will face again. I know it. And on that day, I will be backstage and I will watch with a smile on my face as he puts you back into the dregs of society where you belong. And once again, FGA will be in proper hands.
Joey (off-camera): Man that was great. I knew you could do it. Watch out, FGA because here comes Matt Summers.
Matt: Umm…I don't know. Can we start again?
And cut.
